Jangokushi: Haoh no Saihai (the sub-title loosely translated to "Baton Tile of the Overlord", also known as Jyangokushi) is a historical-fantasy combination turn-based strategy and riichi mahjong (two-player variant) game developed and released by Capcom for arcades (using their CP System II hardware) in Japan on May 27, 1999.
As the title is a wordplay on "Sangokushi" (a historical book known as Records of the Three Kingdoms) and "Mahjong", the game combines the turn-based "grand strategy" wargame aspect of Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdom series with standard Japanese mahjong (in the arcade-style two-player variant). It is set during the Three Kingdoms period of ancient China and has players choosing from one of four warlords (Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Lu Bu, and Sun Quan) as they build up territorial control on the game board in an attempt to conquer all 36 squares.
Conquring territory is played as standard games of two-player Japanese mahjong, with game difficulty and starting point advantages based on both the square to conquer and the warlords' forces.
