The Yian Kut Ku is usually the first real encounter a monster hunter would face, hunters also may be thrown off by it's speed and it's berserk status. The Yian Kut Ku resembles a chicken in manner and form because of it's pecking and frail walking style. It would inhabit three areas, The Jungle, The Swamp, The Forest and Hills.
In game reference image after encountering.
If attacked the Kut Ku would shoot fireballs from it's mouth and charge around recklessly to defend it's territory. If The Kut Ku could gain enough range on the foe (usually if the hunter would run away) it would swoop down to try and impale the hunter. During pecking and charging it would normally leave itself open which the hunter would follow up with an attack. It also use's a tail swipe which is commonly used by most Wyverns and which most beginner hunters can easily avoid.
This Wyvern has high frequency hearing which allow it to find you from far away but with this it also has a disadvantage if you use either a sonic bomb, barrel bomb and Crag/Cluster shots, this causes it to go into a dizziness status and that gives the hunter the advantage to attack. If it's ears are attacked and destroyed then it's no longer vulnerable to high frequency sounds which means sonic bombs, barrel bombs and Crag/Cluster shots no longer effect it. When it's ears are laid back, it's known to be a sign of weakness and frailty and will eventually run away.
The Yian Kut Ku is weakest to water, thunder and ice attacks which also depend on the weapon of choice. For example the tactic for the dual sword class it to use the special skill Demonic Dance with a water weapon and attack the body. For the Longsword class it is best to use a thunder type weapon and attack the wings. For The Hammer the Hunting horn and the Great-Sword, users should use an ice weapon and aim for the head. Finally for the bow's and gun's it's best to aim for the face also.
