    Overview

    A post-apocalyptic cyberpunk sci-fi manga and anime that focuses on two ESWAT officers in the utopian city of Olympus: a city-state created after World War 3 destroyed most of the planet's cities and despoiled the environment. It was created by Masamune Shirow. As well as an OVA, three movies (and counting) and a CGI anime series, the franchise also produced several games:

    • Appleseed: Prometheus no Shintaku (1994): A Super Famicom side-scrolling shooter.
    • Appleseed EX (2004): A PS2 action game developed by Sega to coincide with the 2004 CGI movie.
    • Appleseed the Online (2005): An online game for PC. Its servers shut down the following year.
    • Appleseed Tactics (2009): Another online game. Its servers also shut down in the year following its release.
