Amazon's Got XBLA Deals

In these troubled economic times, even Pac-Man's got to slash prices.

Pac-Man sez: "Only chumps pay retail!"
When Amazon first announced that it was going to start selling Xbox Live Arcade games, I didn't really see the point. The whole Xbox Marketplace system is built into the console itself, so what's the point of going through an online transaction on another device? Today, thanks to Giant Bomb super-friend MrJared, it's starting to make a bit more sense to me. For starters, you can buy XBLA games through Amazon individually; when you buy them through the console, you have to buy a block of Marketplace points, which inevitably leaves you with a balance of an odd number of points just sitting on your account. More importantly, Amazon has started selling certain XBLA games at a discount, which, other than lucking into discount points cards on sale at some random retailer, is pretty much the only way to get those games for less than retail. Right now you can get Doom for $2.97 and Pac-Man Championship Edition for $4.97, the former of which is a seminal video game classic, and the latter of which I consider to be one of the finest games to hit the service.
