BioShock 2 DLC On For March

More multiplayer ranks, characters, and masks coming for five bucks next month.

BioShock 2's multiplayer was probably one of the most surprising things for me when I reviewed the game earlier this month. Multiplayer? In BioShock? The whole thing smelled like a crazy decision made by crazy people. But hey, it's pretty good!

If you're currently playing through the BioShock 2 multiplayer, but wish you had a bit more to mess with, the game's developers are currently working on some additional content for the multiplayer mode. Titled the "Sinclair Solutions Test Pack," this chunk of DLC will raise the maximum player rank to 50, add two playable characters, 20 more trials, five masks, and and additional weapon upgrade for each of the game's guns. This pack is due out in March and will run you $5.00.

Even though I enjoyed the game's multiplayer mode, this doesn't immediately seem like a particularly exciting addition to me, since the only things that will really have a gameplay impact are the new weapon upgrades and perhaps some of the rewards that come with the level cap increase. The more interesting notion is that the press release announcing this thing also confirms 2K's intent to develop and release further content for later release. New multiplayer maps would be nice, and some more single-player components could be interesting, as well. Here are three shots of the additional content.
