Epic Games Unveiling “Surprising” New Franchise This Weekend

I hope it's expanding on the world they showed in the Samaritan demo. I also hope that whatever it is, it ships day and date for PC.

My guess would be something in the same universe as their DX11 "Samaritan" tech demo.

Guessing that it might be called: Ghears of Wor and Duty - Extreme Edition.

Why doesn't Chair make a new Jazz Jackrabbit? They seem to be the right branch of Epic for the job, what with their experience making more accessible, arcadey games and sidescrollers. And downloadable titles, which is where Jazz should end up.

I'd like to play a new Jazz game. They were fun. Epic did a good job aping Sonic the Hedgehog, and adding in guns, because of course a western developer would ;)

I hope it's Jill of the Jungle 2.

It's a game where you play a dog walker and walk dogs around major cities. Powered by Kinect.

I would love to see Cliffy help make a Family Feud game.

Assassin's Creed Multiplayer style game. Sort of spy vs spy stuff.

It is a new franchise, so why list franchises? I am gonna guess it will be an RPG.

I'm with JeanLuc, it'll be something to do with the Samaritan tech demo. Epic never throw away assets, like the Brumack in the early shots of Gears

In all honesty Patrick, I don't know why you listed off all the games Epic has recently released. I mean, Bleszinski himself said it's not what any of us think, and that it's brand new stuff. It's like someone saying "The answer to 1+1=2" and then speculating, "I don't know you guys, it definitely couldn't be 3".

You said it yourself, a new franchise, so why even think it'd be Gears or anything else they've already made?

But as for what it could be, who knows? Hopefully they don't pull a Rare.

@Cube: On top of that, he points out that Bulletstorm was released very early this year, which makes me wonder why he thinks it can't be a People Can Fly game. 10 months seems like plenty of time to spec out and produce a trailer for a new game, or depending on how they wound down near the end of the Bulletstorm dev cycle a rudimentary demo wouldn't be unheard of.

The main characters in Gears of War are in the COG "Army." There is also a COG Navy with a Marine Corps in it, but I don't think they depicted in the three games (I haven't finished the 3rd one yet).

Yeah, they are going to announce UT4 and talk about how they "are really a PC developer" and stuff. 12 Months later when the game has sold about 5 copies on PC they will be like "Oh, we were always focused on consoles and of course we will continue working on the Gears franchise"

A postapocalyptic brownish halfopen wordly shooter where you venture out from sort of cavernous safearea, where you years before hid in order to preserve yourself during the disaster, and where you immediately get smacked in the face with how brown and infested by mutantlike creatures the world is.

Am I crazy, or is everyone else misinterpreting 'new franchise'? I was under the assumption that "new franchise" means "completely new IP", not "new game in old franchise".
