Hide The Children--Gizmondo 2 Is On The Loose

Self-described Swedish-American journalist Hans Sandberg has the inside track on the zombie handheld that just won't die. Yes, he claims to have seen the Gizmondo 2.

The new device, weirdly enough, seems to look exactly like the old one. The insides, however, will apparently sport a newer Nvidia graphics chip and will offer a choice of operating systems. So it'll be able to run Windows CE 6.0 or Google's upcoming Android OS. But you'll have to choose at purchase--you won't be able to change back and forth.

The threat goes on to claim that online ordering for whatever this thing ends up being will open in mid-October, with a release time frame of November or December.

But forget all that, I just want to know one key thing: Will I be able to play Momma, Can I Mow The Lawn? on it?

I like the retro look of the Gizmondo, it clashes with the shiny and scratchable PSP and DS very well.  I will be interested in what games the system offers, and if it comes with a Lamborghini or other totally crashable vehicle.

I'd like to see this journalist Hans Sandberg hooked up to a lie-detector while his balls were connected to a rusty car battery. If he told the truth about actually seeing and experiencing the Gizmondo 2 then its all good. If he lies then he gets the medieval treatment to his gonads. Or just send him down to Guantanamo for a little "enhanced interrogation".

Yes, it's true. The Gizmondo community are all extremely excited.

I think they're nuts.

Full disclosure: Jensonb owns a Gizmondo, bought it to play Chicane: Jenson Button Street Racing (Which he did, though he had to pirate it cos the bloody idiots went bust before it could come out) and he also wrote the Gizmondo page, right here on Giant Bomb.
