No more "smelly cheese" face?I really enjoyed the previous two Max Payne games. The series places you in the shoes of the hard-boiled, scrunchy-faced, down-on-his-luck detective, Max. It's a dark tale, told in a gritty, noirish fashion, that follows Max's ever-quickening separation from humanity. Now, with a new "more world-weary and cynical" Max Payne slated for release in "Winter 2009," it's hard to imagine how Rockstar, the series' publisher, can find a way to crush our poor anti-hero's soul any further.

Man, poor Max. I thought the guy was at the end of his rope by the end of the intro in the first game. I'm very curious to see how the game is done now that it is out of the hands of its original creators, Remedy Entertainment. According to the press release, things will be moving away from the mean streets of New York to some other urban nightmare.
Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out.
I'm defintely looking forward to hearing more about this one, and with it coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in "Winter 2009," hopefully it won't take too long. So what would you guys want for Max Payne 3? Personally, I just want to see him get a puppy and meet a nice lady who runs a stand that sells seashells afixed with googly eyes.

Quite concerned about this. I really wanna know who's handling the writing for this game, as that is the thing that made the Max Payne games what they were, more so than the bullet-time in my opinion. If it's not the people behind the first two games, I'm not sure I'm interested.
I have been waiting 5 years to read that title, and now, and after the wait is gone, feelings of Joy,Happiness and Gladness are lumbering through my body.
Honestly kinda bummed that Remedy isn't going to be doing it. If Dan Houser and Rupert Humphries are writing it, then I really hope that they take the gloom from GTA4 and kick it up a couple notches.

With the kind of luck Max has the puppy would get hit by a car and the nice lady would get shot in a googly eyed seashell robbery gone sour. ...I think I just wrote the opening scene for Max Payne 3.
I'm very worried about this game. The teaser picture, the premise... I don't like it one bit. I'll gave to wait to see more, of course, but as things stand now, I'd much rather them leave Max Payne to rest with 2.
I think the moratorium on Max Payne 2 has long since past, but if for some reason you haven't played the Max Payne series and don't wish to have anything spoiled for you, stop reading this comment............. Alright. So Max Payne 2 had two endings. It all boils down to the fate of Mona Sax. If you beat the game on the highest difficulty, she survives in the end. If you beat it on anything else, she dies. The thing is, even with Mona's death, the game wraps up perfectly. Max has a moment where he reminisces about his dead wife ("I had a dream of my wife. She was dead, but it was alright.") Boom. The end. His mind is at peace. Both games were superb. An excellent end to an excellent series. With Mona living, Max can obviously be happy for a different reason.
Endings aside, almost every side-character the series ever had is now dead. The only person that survives, besides Max, of course, is Deputy Chief Jim Bravaura. Assuming this was going to be the last game of the series (to keep in line with the trilogy mentality that game developers have adopted), do we really want things to move to a whole different location, with totally different characters, for that one game? Are they going to make a Max Payne 4? I think the series will have long overstayed its welcome by that point.
Just bring me Alan Wake, which was supposedly a spiritual sucessor to Max Payne in the first place.
This is Rockstar we are talking about I don't expect them to mess up. Vancouver last worked on Bully which was an excellent game so I am hopeful this will be good.
Rockstar make games so it's in good hands and I love the GTA art style so have no problem seeing it here. I don't just want the old Max Payne cause I can go back and play that, I want something new and I hope any change of direction they make is for the better and suits the times. Can't wait cause we havn't seen a Max Payne game since 2003 and it's about damn time!
So has it been announced which Rockstar studio is doing the primary game?
EDIT: Nevermind... it's Rockstar Vancouver: the creators of Bully. I was wondering what they were up to. R* likes to have all of their studios doing something different at the same time.
I don't know about this game--the poster makes the art style look like normal Rockstar fair instead of Max Payne. And while I like the GTA series, I always thought their art style was generic, and totally uninteresting. Hopefully there will be a bit more style to this game than the poster would suggest.
It's about damn time I say. I absolutely loved the first two Max Payne games(two of my favorite games of the last generation) and I am so eagerly awaiting this installment. Miami or Chicago would be great cities for Max Payne.
