More Tracks Confirmed For Def Jam Rapstar

Now you can get scored for your ability to say "I'm not a player, I just crush a lot."

It's a video game UI wrapped around the music video's fake desktop publishing UI. Abstract, indeed.

4mm Games has confirmed another set of tracks for Def Jam Rapstar, one of which makes me think the game needs support for more than two simultaneous players. But if you and a friend want to pretend to be an entire posse, "Scenario" by A Tribe Called Quest will be in the game. Though this does mean that you'll be charged with shouting out "rowwwwh rowwwwh, like a dungeon draaagon" in your best Busta Rhymes voice. So yeah, that's a pretty solid addition to the lineup.

Here are the rest of the newly announced tracks:

  • Jim Jones - "We Fly High"
  • LL Cool J - "Mama Said Knock You Out"
  • Ludacris - "Stand Up"
  • Onyx - "Slam"
  • Run-DMC - "Run's House"
  • Big Pun featuring Joe - "Still Not A Player"

Really, that guy referred to himself as simply "Joe." That's just bad branding, dude.

Along with these pre-existing tracks, Cool & Dre and DJ Khalil have been added to the roster of producers providing instrumental tracks for the game's freestyle mode. Oh, and the UK version of the game will have a song called "Chip Diddy Chip" by Chipmunk. My knowledge of UK hip-hop starts and stops with Goldie Lookin' Chain, so I'm afraid I can't tell you if that's a good thing or not.

You know, whenever we write anything about Def Jam Rapstar, we got a lot of people asking us if we can help them get "down" with this "hip-hop flavor." The answer used to be no, but I've found this handy instructional video (courtesy of Everything Is Terrible) that should get you to stop saying "yay" and start saying "yo."
