Resident Evil Taking Another Stab at the PC

That horrible RE4 PC port doesn't fill us with optimism, but Resident Evil 5 is headed to your IBM-compatible desktop computer nevertheless.

A few PC fans were not pleased about the RE4 port.

Apparently it's Election/Capcom Day for those of us in the US today. After a couple of different pieces of news about Street Fighter, MCV (via Kotaku) reports that a PC version of Resident Evil 5 has finally been confirmed for release alongside the console versions on March 13 of next year.

I know, I know. Because Resident Evil 4 was so great on PC, yes? Actually, no, it was awful, with graphics and lighting far inferior to the GameCube version and bafflingly limited control options. Hard to get too stoked about RE5 suffering the same fate, right?

Wrong. This is the new Capcom we're talking about here. The Capcom that cares about its community and about the quality of all its games. More importantly, the Capcom that invested a lot of money and time in a multiplatform development strategy and technology that's resulted in other current and upcoming games--games like Devil May Cry 4, Bionic Commando Rearmed, and the new Bionic Commando--getting fully respectable treatment on the PC.

So I'm confident that RE5 is going to be totally playable and up to par with the PS3 and 360 editions. Hey, if they managed to fit in proper mouse control and Games For Windows achievements, that might even be the version I'll want to play.
