Rock Band 1 Hardware Price Cut

Retailer relief comes in the form of a price cut for all the old Rock Band gear.

MTV Games has announced immediate cuts to the Special Edition bundles of the first Rock Band. Here are the updated prices.

  • PS2 and Wii: $99.99
  • Xbox 360 and PS3: $139.99

The bundles include the game, a drum kit, guitar, and microphone.

It's being billed as a "special holiday price," but I doubt that means they'll be going back up next year. If anything, all this means that they're trying to help retailers get rid of old stock. I don't know how it is where you're at, but most of the Best Buys and other big retail places around here seem to be swimming in old Rock Band hardware.

So if you're looking to get into the plastic instrument scene on a budget, all that stuff is now a bit more affordable.

Rock Band 2 is coming out in the UK this week or next. Not sure about elsewhere i Europe though.

Eww why would you wanna buy the hardware used?  Anyway i say the rock band 2 kit is worth the price difference plus you can always rent rock band 1 and import it into rock band 2.

The awesome thing is that I got my rock band for PS2 (brand spanking new, from walmart) for the price that's going to be, thanks to an online sale. =P

It's only the 360 version of rock band 2 that's released in Europe this year as they have a timed exclusive as they did for the first game.

The Rock Band 1 Bundle is being sold for EUR 99 on the German Amazon site for a couple of weeks now.
As far as I'm informed Rock Band 2 will be available as the game only version for XBox 360 in Europe.
At least for the time being.
