SFII HD Remix Coming Out Sooner Than You Thought

Capcom is doing the smart thing: Getting its downloadable fighter out this month, well in advance of Street Fighter IV.

The high-definition remake of Super Street Fighter II Turbo sounded like a great idea when it was announced a year and a half ago. (Jeff will argue till he's blue in the face that they should have gone with Hyper Fighting, though.) But then time passed, and more time passed, and HD Remix never materialized on download services.

Now that it's almost 2009, it's gotten pretty difficult for me to keep looking forward to HD Remix when Street Fighter IV is nearly out. In fact, Capcom's Japanese SFIV site just confirmed the console versions will hit stores in February next year, with a North American version presumably following shortly after.

Luckily, Capcom has done the smart thing and set a release date for HD Remix in the month of November. That's this month! The specific date is yet to be determined, but the important thing is, this will give you at least three months to wring your money's worth out of the game before Big Daddy IV appears in stores early next year. That changes the scenario from "unfortunate overlap" to "well-timed marketing lead-in." It's almost like they've got a plan for this stuff...
