As someone who bought 360 day 1 and mostly played 360 versions of games all gen?

Someone who has been XBL member since Halo 2?

Someone who has 5-10 casual gamer friends that will buy what I buy?

Really pleased, I think all the anti-ms sentiment these last few days came from a legitimate concern our hobby was being strong armed away from us. Sony's made me feel nostalgic and excited for the future of console gaming, even if eventually the rose tint fades and we adjust back to how both of them are essential our dope peddlers, I enjoyed staying up to ride the sony wave. I also really want that poncho's game, looked great.

The PS+ is still optional, yes you need it to play online, but with microsoft, it's required to have xbox live just to use your system, which is crazy.

This is a fascinating turn. I felt it was pretty certain that Sony would want to do what Microsoft was doing, but interestingly I get the impression they never intended to go that far (oddly).

I mean I don't know that, but I have never heard them even mention it until now, so the fact that they dont have this implementable DRM is such great news even if not surprising. It's just good to hear them confirm it.

The sharing with friends simplicity (one step) video was a nice touch.

Thanks for the memories 360, but I'll be a proud, not-worried about DRM, no Internet required, no Kinect wanted, PS4 player this console cycle.

When Tretton was mocking the Xbox One's DRM it was so brutal I actually winced.

No they didn't. At least up to a point. US prices do not include taxes, European prices do. If you include your VAT and custom taxes they are pretty close.

I'm not even a console guy but I'm seriously considering buying a PS4 just because!!!!

I didn't expect to be so excited to hear that Sony wasn't going for an always on or 'check up' system for its DRM. I know I'm jumping ship too. Sorry Microsoft.

All of Microsoft's exclusives that I care about are also coming to PC...so the PS4 is making one HELLUVAN argument...

Preordered the minute they announced the price.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy. I don't know how they can go that low if the hardware is supposedly so much beefier than the XBONE.

Sony absolutely brought it today. This was on the level of the infamous 1995 E3 where it decimated Sega's Saturn before either console was released. Now, I think Microsoft will recover better than Sega did, but the fight is well and truly on!

I wonder if the EYE camera is included in that.

I've always been a Sony devote. Their press conference just further confirmed my purchase of the PS4. Great jon, Sony. Incredibly well done.

Wow...used games allowed...$399.99...probably slightly better hardware (ram at least). I think Sony just won next gen. I'm buying them both, but I will buy every multi platform game on PS4, because I am a game collector and I HATE the idea of not owning my games, or of losing them to time as consoles become obsolete. Thank you Sony for standing up for game collectors.

Man, I was thinking I'd have to wait before getting either of the new consoles, but with $399 the price I can certainly swing it.

Having to have Plus for online play is a little annoying, but I think we all knew they couldn't afford not to put that behind their paywall, but they still let you use all the streaming services for free. I think Sony is seriously knocking it out of the park today.

That press conference was pretty much a core gamers dream to me. So many games. Kingdom Hearts 3 as a big jump out to me, the demo of Watch Dogs, Destiny, a Mad Max game, I'm forgetting alot and damn. They also released a youtube video where they pretty much bitchslap Microsoft:

$399 + tax (approx 7%) = $426
