Spike TV Video Game Awards Air Live on December 14

I think, given the way games are going, we are all winners.

I'm actually looking forward for the exclusive game reveals like Fight Night Round 4 (hopefully they deliver). I'm pretty sure the show will be the same as last year. Some games will deserve wiil win and some will robbed along with watching crappy bands perform.

Actually that is a pretty solid list.  Reminds me how great this year has been. 

I'll seriously cry if Wii Music takes "best music game". I bet they put it in there just to fill up the spots

its obvious that Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros are going to win, what a shame. Seriously If Burnout or MK doesnt win then the comitee will be the equivilant to crap. It seems a little weird that the sports game catogorie is almost all EA games.

These lists... suck.  Castle Crashers is not on the indie game list.  Not to mention that MGS4 shouldn't be up for GOTY, it swooped a spot that by all rights should have been either Left 4 Dead's or SSBB's.

As much as i like Michael Hollick i totally want Stephen Fry to win that Big Name In The Game award...theres no way he will but God dammit he should, he was in Fable II also! legend!

Nice of them to consider games that aren't out yet or have only been for a couple of weeks (to the consumer, at least). Also, where's Valkyria Chronicles in that Best Graphics list? We're going to need a spot of color in all that grey and brown.

Crysis Warhead is not in the "Best Graphics" category and yet Gears 2 is.....why?

I must not understand exactly what "Big Name in the Game" is supposed to be... if it's best voice actor, that's different, I guess.

But in any case, I definitely think Liam Neeson (James Vaultdweller, Fallout 3) should have been a nominee. I mean, come on, it's fucking Qui-Gon Jinn. As your father. Definitely should have been a nominee.

Really not sure about SSBB deserving to be anywhere near the GOTY award -  I think that was the point being made, trav3ler.

I think the list is pretty decent - there's many games I haven't personally played or seen so I probably can't comment on contentious decisions with any accuracy.  It does show that it's been a good year for games again.

Jeff you should be ashamed of being a part of one of the worst awards show ever Spike TV only gets my views because of late night startrek and thats about it.

Not the worst list. Of course saying that Spike TV has any entertainment value at all is pretty much correct.

Typically I hate everything about these awards because they usually pick the most over hyped games of the year and continue to hype them. I am happy I can vote for The World Ends With You this year. I still dislike this list, there is never any emphasis for great games besides the obvious. In my opinion, there shouldn't be a "Game of the year" gamers are too diverse to have one game be the best . I would die of shock if LittleBigPlanet won, but all the nominees didn't shock me in the least bit. I just hope Grand Theft Auto doesn't win, it will be that or Gears. Not too happy that "Best RPG" is missing titles like: Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant, Star Ocean, Persona 4, and Valkyria Chronicles.

Meh. I don't like Spike. For their top tens or whatever they always interject their random opinion and heavy bias into something that should be more general. It'd be fine if it was a personal list but Gametrailers/Spike always presents it as fact. Or, they say something in a review but then they just totally switch around their opinion.

For example: Almost every time they have a list of their Top 10 most anticipated games Resident Evil 5 is on top. If it was a best game of E3, it's RE5....which is kind of strange because they gave GRAW 2 a higher score.

Why would they put PixelJunk Eden on the best Indie game over PixelJunk Monsters or Castle Crashers?
What's the point of having a list for Best RPG when Fallout 3's the only one as a game of the year nominee?

Oh, and this list also suffers from being put out too soon. Prince of Persia?

I thought WotLK would be in PC or RPG, maybe they only want one MMO.  Also, The World Ends With You would have been good for best handheld.

Count me among the confused.  Fallout 3 qualifies as best XBox 360 game but not in the best PC game category?  Odd.

Other than that, my only votes are Left 4 Dead for best shooter (and that''s based on the demo!), and Audiosurf for best independent.  The rest are a bit of a wash, other than the fact that I'm leaning against Little Big Planet, in light of the online yanking of cool looking levels that may or may not infringe on copyrights.

Dead Space for most surprisingly good game.

Quite a good list overall and like other people have said, we're the real winners as we got a lot of great games. I think Left 4 Dead deserves a few more nods but otherwise I can't really with all the top quality games.

Wow, Dead Space deserved more attention than it got. New game, great fun and fantastic to play. Definitely deserves Action/Adventure Game of the Year since the others are sequels and have gotten a ton of awards. Time to recognize when someone takes a chance and makes a great new franchise. Should've gottten nominations for GOTY and Best Graphics. Its great to see new games, so let's give them the encouragement to make others or we'll always be getting sequels (and yes I do love some sequels, just saying we should celebrate new ideas more).
