GAAAAAAAAAMES! With its seven-and-a-half year legacy soon coming to a close, tonight marks a certain end for Microsoft's online console service. After this, the original Xbox Live servers are going down--for good. No more Halo 2, no more... well, that's pretty much the big one. You get the idea. It's been a strong run for what has arguably been, for better or for worse, one of the most significant developments in the history of online gaming. But with the Xbox 360 so thoroughly replacing its predecessor, it has run its course, and now it's time to say goodbye.
Join us, then, as we celebrate the memory of Xbox Live with our two-hour live stream extravaganza tonight from 10PM to Midnight PDT! We'll be playing loads of Halo 2 and other Xbox classics while taking your questions in the USTREAM chat below. And so, without further ado, LET THE XBOXALYPSE BEGIN!!!

@TripMasterMunky: Yeh, I know, lolz. Just don't own any old Xbox games as I had no more use for them. Course, Halo 2 being the draw. I never knew we would live to see the death on Xbox Live 1.0. K, I really need to stop saying that, lol. I just really, really want to witness it from GiantBomb themselves. Ah well, guess well see what they think about it and then see what they do from there.
I watched from the beginning to the end and I agree with @Robbie_Has_You I want someone playing it and updating us on it's status. Mostly because I don't have any of my original Xbox games where I am, and because I'm lazy. That was an awesome stream and Vinny, I captured your voice for relistening that guitar was the best EVARRRR!

I watched the whole thing, lasted until about fifteen after 6am central time. When they realized it wasn't going down, they switched out and played some other games. Ryan tried some more Burnout 3, but EA had actually shut down their games. Vinny played some Battlefront, as mentioned already, and some original Forza. EDIT: And some Splinter Cell. I think that's all. END EDIT. Then Ryan came back and finished it off with some MechAssault 2.

That part made the whole event worth staying up for. When I posted the chords: A C#m D A in the chat (if and when they post a video, you can hear both Vinny and Ryan read them out), I was actually trying to get Vinny to play "The Weight" by The Band. I wasn't expecting him and Dave to make up a whole new song on the spot! That was really special.
I want to watch the archive but it only lasts until right after they switched to Mech Assault. Did it bug out after that? Theres also the last 10 mins before they stopped posted.
I was there for the whole thing but i fell asleep at 530am. Missed the last hour. Kinda sucks just cus I wanted to see them play SC: CT Oh well, it was a crazy night, and I enjoyed it. Weirdest thing ever though. Really weird of Microsoft to change the time they're taking it down.
That being said this should be called "A night with giant bomb" haha Was a long night, looked like you guys woke up around when I did as the site was updated a little later then usual today haha =P

Stayed and watched the whole damn thing till about 7:30am eastern. Just woke up about 10-15mins ago (5:00pm) but I'm glad I stuck with it cuz it was hilarious. Even managed to kill Drew a few times in Halo 2! Surprised to still see XBL up when I woke up but now I'm just dling all this old DLC before its gone forever!
I love this site a bunch and really wanted to watch this last night but knowing now that its 4 and half hours and there was even more I'm glad I didn't.
Wish there was more time in the day to blow watching 4 dudes play some old XBL titles but alas there isn't.

I stayed for as long as I could from the beginning to about 6AM Central. They were just getting back into Mech Assault. By that point I kinda figured it probably wasn't going down til AFTER the 15th. Still, it was a great gesture and great way to send off a classic. You know what they say about the best laid plans, "The best laid plans...something...mice...something"
Anyway, I was ROBC3. The guy Ryan started talking a little shit about after I killed nachoboss twice in a row in the tank around 4:21 into the recorded stream. I just wanted to see at least one warthog or body go flying just like old times, that's all.
I would have preferred to be on the GiantBomb side, but it was still a nice way to cap off my halo 2 experience playing against you guys. I used to play religiously with friends from high school. We actually had a top ranked clan for a while and everything, good times. On second thought...not really good. It turned into more of a job than a game after a while, and as someone who is normally a fairly casual player I got sick of playing against these hardcore teams. i don't know what I hate more on Live!, these ultra hardcore players that take the game like it's life or death or screeching 15 year olds. Although playing it again I kinda missed those frantic matches.
By the way, I'm not a jerk. I'm actually a Robert anyway...from a long line of non-jerk Roberts. Robert just sucks as a screen name. I agree though, most other "Robs" I've met have been douche-extraordinaires.
Maybe if/whenever STO shuts down the Space Neon Lobsters will have to send it off in grand fashion. I'd re-up my sub for that.
