Uh Oh, Steam’s Annual Summer Sale Has Begun

This is the first time I remember the Steam site going down, even during a sale. It's made my wallet a little happier.

Really enjoyed the ticket system from the last steam summer sale as I picked up a few cheap games to win some ticket/achievement & liked those games afterwards. Didn't care much for the coal/crafting thing in winter's sale, glad I've been filling the wishlist to see what's out there I might be interested in. Just hoping now for a few newer releases (Krater, Civ5 expansion & Endless Space) to show up in the rotating voted on sales to be able to get those for a good price too.

Something feels really wrong about that video...but dammit that was good! As for the sale, it must have known i'd put money into my Steam wallet. It waited...and now it pounces...Ever the Predator...*smh*

Are steam christmas sales comparable? i'm debating whether to pick up games I can't play yet in anticipation of a future PC..

Was hoping Reckoning would go on steam sale =(

The THQ bundle wasn't bad, considering the amount of things in it I wanted. Also jumped at Left 4 Dead 2 and the King's Bounty collection.

The latter I am extremely pleased with.

Steam started with a christmas sale, it's the summer I believe that was added on after what was probably considered an experiment. Ahhh, in less than an hour it will be ten my time....flip time for the new sales.

Quick someone give me a suggestion for something obscure that's good on steam. I need a fix.

Don't hold your breath. Gods & Kings is the second newest product that 2K has released this year (Spec Ops: The Line is the newest), and publishers really don't like slashing the price on something that came out less than 30 days ago. Especially since Gods & Kings has been one of the top 5 best selling things on Steam since the day it released.

Long story short, it is one of their key moneymakers for the next few months, and they can absolutely get away with keeping it close to full price for a while.

Yeah, might have to wait until Black Friday sales... id pick it up for $9.99 or even $15 in a heartbeat.

Haven't bought a single game yet, anything I'm interested in I already have or already played/tried and didn't like. Got too many games to play as it is, anyway.

Dude, seriously. I've never seen anything merit the 'first world problems' phrase more than what you've posted. You should honestly be feeling ashamed of yourself.

I got a call from my bank today because there was so many small payments on my card that they thought it was compromised. I had to explain to them that it was the steam sale

Nothing yet, but I usually spend like $10-15 on the sale each summer... Not a ton, but those 2-3 games that I do buy usually keep me busy even well after the Christmas sale.

@patrickklepek - If you haven't already bought the Penumbra games as a follow-up to your Amnesia run, strike while the iron's hot. 5 bucks for both Overture and Black Plague. Do it. You know you want to.

EA is working hard to separate itself from Steam. I would not be surprised at some point in the near future if none of their games are on there.

This is my first Steam sale, now I can see why everyone goes crazy. I've spent about 40 bucks thus far.

boughtt 3 titles so far, at these prices you'd crazy not to buy.

I've spent far too much money on this fucking sale.

I bought Shogun II,Trine 2, and some DLC for different things so far.

Tempted by E.Y.E and Walking Dead ATM, will have to ask the wife for permission first haha

Right now I'm looking at 70 dollars spent on 14 games. I had a loose budget of $100 going into the sale and I'm running out of games to buy, so everything should work out quite nicely.

Got Evochron Evolution, Pixeljunk Eden, Jagged Alliance (the new one), Mount & Blade series, Qube, & some 
other Indie game.  I might get Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity, but got a week to think about it.  I don't know when 
I'm gonna have time to play these games. Also, thinking I might move away from the Xbox & go back to PC 
gaming for all my gaming needs.

Maybe it's just me, but my problem with these Steam sales is that I never end up playing the games I buy.

time to buy a lot of games--that i won't play in the next 18 months--but maybe will --at some point you know when i get around to it
