Xbox Live Returns, Marketplace Doesn't

After a 24-hour outage, life returns to Microsoft's online service. Well, most of it, anyway.

Well, we made it to the other side of Microsoft's Xbox Live maintenance outage. While it was down, I'm sure the back-end was thoroughly scrubbed and prepared for all those future updates coming to the Xbox 360 later this year.

Along the way, xbox.com was updated with a new, avatar-focused look. Personally, I think it pushes too much stuff too far down the page, but it's a minor change, overall. The big issue right now, though, is that Xbox Live Marketplace is sort of messed up. Microsoft is painting the issue as something that's impacting a "small amount of content" in the store. That might be true, I haven't exhaustively checked everything. But I can say that I'm still waiting to download two of this week's Xbox Live Arcade releases, Rocket Riot and Sam & Max Season 1. Ryan tried redeeming his Ghostbusters/Best Buy downloadable multiplayer Mayor skin or whatever the heck it is, too, with no luck.

So I'm just sort of sitting here, playing FUEL, actively disliking it, trying to decide if I really need to unlock every single area before writing a review or not, and occasionally trying to download Sam & Max again and again. A smarter man would have brought in his copy of Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and worked on that review, instead. But alas, we live and we learn.

And just so you're totally up to date with how my day is going, Vinny just sent me this important video:
