    No, it's going to be set in Desmonds time, which is most likely around 2012

    From everything I've read about the ending it pretty much sets things up that Desmond is going to be a full blown Assassin in the next game and you'll be playing as him in the "present" day. Ubisoft has said several times that Assassin's Creed was envisioned as a trilogy and this would work into that.

    If I remember right from around the first game, Desmond is living in 2012.... September-ish or something.  I remember there being references to December 21, 2012, saying it would take place that year...  whatever "it" is.
