    Review.

The first time I saw the trailers for Bioshock, I was never really sure what I was supposed to think. It seemed like some kind of horror mock up that I would never get into. When I was finally released it was given the majority of good reviews such as “a beautiful, brutal, and disquieting computer game…one of the best in years” as said by the Boston Globe. Along with several other (million) positive reviews, I was looking forward to it.

    Look Mr. Bubbles, an angel!

The long awaited Bioshock is here and from looking around the world of Rapture I can only droll from the beauty of the decaying underwater world and its magnificent water effects, which happen to be the best in gaming period. These visuals will most likely blow you out of your simple minds when seen. But with all that said, there are its drawbacks with its appearance. During some of the game play you’ll noticed that textures that will disappear from their fellow polyed models leaving behind a large white body that resembles large marshmallow-like people that ruin the amazing and surreal vibe to the game. There are also problems on the lines of keeping its frame-rate up and going, with it staggering quite a bit at times making it very frustrating to both me and gamers alike. But over all it shows that it has amazing visuals that provoke the imagination and sets a standard for video game visual arts. Plus…did I say its water effects were amazing?

My daddy can make a fire with the flick of his fingers.

Now to the most important part of the game, which most gamers forget about, which is the gameplay! If you ever play this game you’ll notes that the concept for it is great, blending both FPS action with RPG elements that haven’t been seen in a long time. If you’ve ever played “System Shock 2” you’ll see why it is its spiritual successor, with its Psionic now being Plasmids, The Many now the Splicers. If you think about it, Bioshock isn’t really a spiritual successor of System Shock 2; it is System shock 2 and in the end its just SHODAN in a business suit with a copy of “Atlas Shrugs”(yes I got this from Yahtzee, leave me alone: P).

But with all that said, over all it’s a great experience that doesn’t happen too often in a gaming world where every one copies left, right, and center.

Problem not with plasmid. Problem with reaction time.

The feel and control scheme in Bioshock is, what I think, to be top of the line when converting something from PC controls to a console controller, since this is almost impossible to do or to ever happen. The placement was clearly thought out carefully when they were putting on the 360, though with some of the placement of the controls there may be people who will complain about how “Y” is to jump, seeing that its to far away for them for their liking. But over all the controls fit very we’ll with this game and allow quick and easy changing of weapons and plasmids on the fly.

If I could only confront them, tell them what they did to me, how they're ruining everything for me, for Rapture.

When it comes to voice-overs in a game, it usually ends up as either a hit or a miss. But not in this case, with Bioshock they have they hit the nail on the head. The voice acting that 2K got in this game is superb; you can really feel the emotion coming out of these actors when they portray these people. Every character has there own style of characteristics in this game, which isn’t easy to do with so many of them that are meat and heard. The actors are also why the vibe in Bioshock is so good; they seem to know what to act like, or how to act to whatever scene of predicament they come across. It’s probably the best I have ever heard in a game…and that’s saying something.

A man chooses, a slave obeys.

In the end this is by far the best of this year and is one that will be remembered for a very long time. So if you find yourself out and about in a store of some sort, give it a try cause you more then likely going to love it a lot. If not, well theirs always other games to try if it’s not in your tastes.

Bioshock truly is a memorable creation. 0

You are a man known as Jack, who finds himself drowning in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean after his plane crashes down. However, he is rescued from certain death by the appearance of some sort of lighthouse situated on the water itself. Too weary and desperate to consider this peculiarity for more than a moment, Jack swims to the towering building in a moment of pure introductory brilliance and finds himself in its 1960s-esque interior. Descending down after gathering himself properly, he disc...

      BioShock Review 0

When I thought new Sci-fi shooters began to overlap, I was contradicted after purchasing BioShock. The primary difference this game has (although it has numerous differences to today's shooters) is its emphasis on making decisions. At first when you are given the choices in this game, they don't seem so heavy, but as you play through this game you will see their significance. Despite a lack of multiplayer, BioShock is a very powerful shooter that gamers out there should not miss. The Plot- It is ...
