I've seen more and more comments about the new look of the art style saying that either they don't like it or hate it. It made me kinda sad since I think it's pretty rad, so I was just wondering what the GB community thought about the "concept-art" style.

What Do You Think Of Borderlands' New Artstyle?
From what i remember of the old sort of art style ( if you can even call it art ) it was not too impressive. Especially compared to the new art. The new cell-shaded type looks really great to me. To me it was completely worth the time it took to redo the art style. I also think that this new art style will really entice people and draw them into the game.
I agree with the palate swap, but I do hope that, like in Diablo, that there's a secret cow level.
The art style is different to most other shooters out there, I think it's awesome that they're trying something different with Borderlands.
I like the fact that it's clear, not gritty, and even colorful in some areas. In fact, it might be the most colorful wasteland shooter ever! It's awesome.
I think it's great. I loved Prince of Persia's art style, and I'm glad more games are taking this approach. I'm glad more people are trying different things rather than the classic "Unreal Engine 3 Look" with parallax mapping on everything.
" @Akeldama: It looks like the Crackdown art style "I don't think it looks like Crackdown at all, more like the new Prince of Persia game than anything.
It's not exactly cel-shading, but it does include the heavy inked border style and more solid (but not the totally solid) colors similar to cel-shading. It's a mixture of styles closer to Prince of Persia than real cel-shading.
"It's cool they are trying something different. But I don't care for it. "
Pretty much how I feel. The concept of the genre mix of rpg and shooter is a brilliant idea though .........so bottomline, it may be really great regardless. But it looks a little too arcade with the graphical style and busy HUD from what I've seen, for my taste in general. The gameplay overall could be a big win anyway, so I'm still very interested.
"It looks great. Is it cell shading? Whatever the style is called it's awesome.
"
Hopefully they won't be inspired by one of Diablo's less spectacular elements which was to have monsters that are differentiated only by their color scheme.
You know whats funny? for some reason I always liked how they did that in Diablo 2, and it's just a lazy way out to make a harder enemy a lot faster then creating a whole new one, but I don't know, as I fought the black imps I almost felt they were the bad ass version of the red/blue and gold ones, but I know where your coming from here and I hope borderlands doesn't fall into the same foot steps, as this game is a whole different ball park and probably wouldn't go as well.
