Then every other player should be a character too...from every single madden game ever. Same goes for every sport. I don't think it should be allowed, but if they allow a few they need to allow them all because it makes no sense to only have a few.

Well he is a character in a video game so it make sense. If someone wants to make a page for every character then sure, it should happen.
Only problem: they also have a Favre person page. I think they should all be characters.

He is only on here because of all the stuff that is going on with him in football right now...and that's totally ok!! This is a new fangeled thing they call "user created content" that means we can do whatever the heck we want to on here (for the most part) and as long as we are enjoying it, and it's what we want to talk about...then it's all good...so...um...yeah get over it

So we should flood the servers with a bunch of retarded pages for football player A, basketball player B, and hockey player C? It's stupid. Especially since 90% of the pages will never be updated or looked at.

Agreed. I think people that are real persons that appear in games should not be "characters."  We don't need double listings for every pro athlete ever.

"Person" pages are for people who are relevant to the videogame industry (Cliffy B, Miyamoto, Reggie, etc), not real people who also happen to appear in videogames. Cao Cao was a real person, but he didn't have anything to do with the industry. He's a character because he shows up in the ROTK and Dynasty Warriors games. Same deal with Musashi, Hattori Hanzo, Adolf Hitler, and every other real person who's had countless videogame appearances.

It's not that hard to understand. Favre IS a video game character.
If you don't like it, stay off the page.

Brett Favre is not "a video game character". He's an athlete, virtually replicated in Madden videogames. Simply stating "if you don't like it, stay off the page", isn't really solving anything- it's just shying away from the argument. The fact is that if you allow real people that appear in video games to the characters section, then it will literally be flooded with presidents, athletes, celebrities etc that appear in videogames, but are not designed specifically for them, which is what a videogame character is. It's the same with pro skaters from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater... and the bottom line is that if you want to look up Brett Favre, go to wikipedia or nfl.com or whatever, because this site is about videogames, and the fact that Brett Favre appears in the Madden games is about all their is to say about him that has anything to do with videogames. He needs to be removed.

I agree that these pages aren't needed. Real personalities, such as athletes, that appear in games shouldn't have character pages. They're not fictional characters, and anyone who needs information about them can get it from much more dedicated resources.

Favre is in the game madden and therefore is a video game character. It's really that simple to understand.
Please show me the where it says real people in video games are not video game characters. So what if there is not a lot to say? What does that have to do with anything. Last time I checked there is not much to say about Mario, maybe we should get rid of that page to. I don't see see the "flooding" you guys keep talking about as only a few players have their own page. This site is about video games and everything related to them including characters, which Favre is.

And for Shasam: Who said they have to be fictional characters?

To clear this whole thing up for you guys, Jeff made a post on the "editing & tools" forum:

Just to clarify for everyone, Person pages are only for people who have been credited in at least one game. A licensed appearance in a football game doesn't count. Except in rare cases where an athlete makes the end credits for consulting or whatever, they should not be in our database as Persons.

Character pages for licensed figures who appear in sports games are totally fine.

So there you go, this page is fine.

Besides, some could consider Brett Favre to be inhuman..... thus better than fictional :P
