The only thing I thought was at least it's not the same thing again which I think it would have been if they did the 70s/80s covert ops thing.

I'm not angry, I never really cared.

But it is interesting to me how many people have reacted to that trailer in a way that wasn't "wow, that is the corniest thing I've ever seen."

I'll just post this summation of the game from wikipedia:

Black Ops II is set in the 21st Century, as opposed to the Cold War setting of Black Ops. The new setting has been described as a "21st Century Cold War"

Yeah, they're really mixing up the formula.

I actually don't care about COD anymore. My last game is MW3, for at least another 5 years.

I'm actually...excited...? I never hated CoD like most people seem to these days. I just got tired of it, but my memories of it are mostly positive. I honestly though I'd never get back into the series, but I'm fucking pumped for this game just because the single player alone looks absolutely ridiculously awesome.

I'm actually uh... pretty pumped. Was ready to write this year off and skip it but the sci-fi angle is making me want it more.

Wasn't black ops already set in the 1970s? I immediately thought of Syndicate when I saw the trailer, but then I remembered there's no way Activision is going to change the award winning multiplayer formula, so I'm bummed out but not angry.

Looks like there'll be way too many vehicle sequences for my liking.

I don't think you understand that there is a horse riding sequence, sir.

This game looks totally garbage. However, i do have some hope it will be better...but i severely doubt it.

The multiplayer looks like itll be somewhat fun....  It looks like itll be different compared to the other games?  Then again its a Call of Duty game.....  

@Demoskinos: I actually have to agree. This marks the first time I've ever actually been interested in a Call of Duty game.

It looks like more of the same so I'm on the uninterested boat over the angry people boat.

The only promising thing i saw in this trailer was the futuristic approach. Last time they did a big timeline jump was back in 4 which was amazing. Maybe Treyarch can do the same thing IW did with a fresh time period. (Well fresh in terms of CoD that is)

Eh. I don't give a fuck. I really enjoyed Modern Warfare 3. The first one I've enjoyed since CoD 4, basically. As long as they continue to make the multiplayer accessible, I'll probably play it at some point.  
 
I guess I'm the exact fool Activision pads their trust fund with.

it ended a couple years after the end of the vietnam war or the end I really can't remember, but there was definitely room for the second half of the actual cold war.

Call of Duty 3 took place during World War 2.

there are lots of call of duty games just saying

I am pretty happy with this direction. I feel like maybe with a near future setting they'll be able to do something exciting and fun beyond "shoot that guy with the same guns that are in every other fps."

It's the first CoD game in a while that's kind of piqued my interest, although I still find it hard to care about a competitive shooter.

they are actually spicing up the game. i still won't buy it but it's something different

My thoughts exactly. This is the first time a trailer made me want a COD game. It really looks like Deus Ex, doesn't it. It's like the Terminator movie I wish existed.

how is it that anyone has any expectations of a call of duty game?

Graphics look pretty bland. Although I appreciate them trying something at least a smiggen different.

Nope. The future war stuff actually sounds kind of cool. I was going to completely ignore it if it was another Vietnam game.

That's where I've stood since finishing Modern Warfare 2.

+1 for at least trying something a little different, even if it's a reskin.

Hey, they might pull off cyberpunk well, that will get popular, and we'll have more good cyberpunk games. Or they might do some crazy shit and have us blow up a giant robot while dual wielding RPG's on horseback.

Either way, I'm not fucking complaining.
