Can (and if so, how) two players compete online, multiplayer, on a single console?

@AndyMP: As far as I know, you can't do online split screen multiplayer.
 
Most modern games cant do it, since it requires a lot more resource processing to display the world twice and potentially 2 completely separate areas. Halo gets away with it because they aren't pushing the graphics as hard as CoD or Battlefield is. It sucks I know =/

... According to Co-Optimus (The best site to check for any coop questions), it only supports local coop for Spec Ops.

MW3 has online split-screen. Same as Blops.

You mean, against each other? I'm pretty sure the answer is "no". You can play against other people if you're on the same team, usually. You'll just both show up as the same account/name. I don't know how people manage it, though. No matter the screen size, it would drive me fucking nuts. Nevertheless, you see people doing it constantly. Especially in COD. In fact, last game I played, 10 of the 12 players were split-screen.

I know you could in BLOPS, don't know why they would take it out.

Yea, I really like this feature. Makes my weekends go fast.
