    Cave Story

Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Dec 20, 2004

Initially a freeware "Metroidvania"-style 2D platformer game created entirely by Daisuke Amaya for the PC, Cave Story follows the tale of a silent amnesiac in a long-winding cavern filled with monsters (including the friendly rabbit-like Mimigas). It received numerous enhanced ports by Nicalis for computers and Nintendo consoles.

Should I get this on WiiWare or just play it for free on PC?

Is there a superior version? WiiWare is $12, PC is free. I don't really care about a time attack mode or enhanced graphics really.

Seems like its a no-brainer to play the free PC version instead. Unless there's something I'm missing. Oddly though, I kind of would rather play it on my Wii. So what's up? Wii version worth it or no?

Just get it for PC, you can use a gamepad so it's no difference.

The Wiiware version fucked up the original music (it's no longer processed in real time, it's badly compressed format on Wiiware and has other issues with the looping, it was done sloppily) and has a few other issues.  I'd say stick with PC.

If you already have a PC controller, go with that. Playing on the keyboard is no way to play. And if you don't have a PC controller, get the Wiiware version cus its probably cheaper than getting a decent gamepad.

Man that's a bummer. The music is pretty much the best part of the game for me.

PC can do you no wrong.
