A sci-fi themed RPG from Nihon Bussan for the Famicom, released in late 1987. It was never released outside of Japan.
Alpha (アルファ) is a visual novel adventure game, developed and published by Squaresoft in 1986, for the PC-8801 & PC-9801 and FM-7 computers. It was known for its real-time animated cutscenes, epic cyberpunk space opera narrative, and scantily-clad heroine.
A first-person adventure game with RPG elements, released by Microcabin in 1986. The game featured environments rendered in 3D polygon graphics, for possibly the first time in a home video game, along with early survival horror elements. However, the game is better remembered for its cyberpunk narrative, which was adapted into a sci-fi novel shortly afterwards.
Squaresoft's first RPG, this was an early futuristic sci-fi RPG for the PC-8801 and PC-9801 computers, featuring a post-apocalyptic setting and isometric, tactical turn-based battles.
The Screamer is a 1985 cyberpunk-horror action RPG taking place in a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi setting. It was released by Magical Zoo, for the PC-8801 in 1985 and for the PC-9801 and X1 in 1986. An English fan translation was released in January 2015.
A sci-fi adventure game from Enix, released in 1983. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the story is about the last survivors of a nuclear war going into crygenic sleep and waking up a hundred years later. The game features a day-night cycle that impacts the story, where certain events may only occur at a specific time.
