Why do so many people dislike Baird? I feel whenever Gears of War gets discussed by the crew they always go out of their way to talk smack about Baird. What did Baird do to deserve all the hate? I played Gears of War 1-3 and never minded him. In fact I like his design! Blue is my favorite color! Baird gets so much hate thrown his way it makes it seem like he is Rico from Killzone! Why all the hate?

I didn't realize people disliked Baird. I thought the four personalities of Marcus, Dom, Cole, and Baird were a pretty necessary "action movie"-level variety.

This is the kind of hot take I can get behind.

Baird is a dick, but he knows it, embraces it, takes the blowback, and pulls his weight.

I don't hate Baird, he is genuinely the only brain cell of that outfit, but compared to Marcus MERICA, Dom TAKE MY WIFE, THE COLE TRAIN and the lovable redshirt Carmine brothers, he seem's less bombastic.

As a black guy myself, Cole was the one I disliked the most, since Epic made him so stereotypical and buffonish. I didn't hate him, but it's like they said lets put all the rappers and athletes together into one asshole. Dom was kinda boring but at least he felt like he could be real.

Baird is my favourite character in Gears, I continue to use him in horde mode to this day.

I like Baird. He's neither the worst or best version of his archetype. Just kind of an above average smarmy tech guy.

Though I get that that style of character is pretty divisive, and when done poorly it's reeaaaaal bad.

i always liked baird cause he wears a blue armor and cause in spanish he was voiced by the guy that voices picolo over here, besides he always seemed like the smart and tech savy of the group so he kinda reminded me of donatello from the tmnt in that regard who also happens to be my favorite turtle

Baird has the funniest moment in game I've played ever. I laugh every single time at his delivery on this.

Also Baird is the greatest Gear and marries the best female gear so yeah Baird is great.

The Gears are all such broad archetypes that I can't really muster strong feelings for or against any of them. (not shitting on the writing... broad archetypes have their place, and the Gears universe is one of those places)

I just remember him being annoying. Not Hansom Jack play the rest of the game muted because he won’t shut the fuck up annoying, but still annoying
