So Konami is making a new DDR title for the Wii. Not surprising, since it's already seen a couple. What's weird is the title.

    Dance Dance Revolution II.

    Yes, DDRII. As in, DDR2.

As in, a numbered sequel to a series that's seen roughly ten thousand entries in the past decade.

    What.

    I mean...what.

i don't think the music will be any better than what it's been in recent titles, though.

So we're going the Grand Theft Auto IV route of completely ignoring major entries in the series because they didn't have a number? Are there any other examples of this, or is that it?

I'm not sure if it counts when there's only one game in between numbers. However, I did remember that Halo did it. Here:

    • Halo 3
    • Halo Wars
    • Halo 3: ODST
    • Halo: Reach
    • Halo 4
    • Halo 1 again
    • All those other Halo games

Dude, you're an... never mind. The only other game you didn't put is Halo 2. The first Halo was also called Combat Evolved, not Halo 1. I know you're just trolling, but damn...

On topic, I have no issues with them calling it DDR2, considering there was never one called so. Is this game only gonna be on the Wii? And I haven't enjoyed a DDR game since Guitar Hero spoiled me with complete songs. Also, Dance Central kicks ass.

The trailer and the page on Konami's official site both indicate it's Wii-only.

I was just demonstrating the principle, so I didn't need to list every damn Halo game that's ever been made. Also, you should know the Law of Sequels:

If a work ever gets a numbered sequel, then people are allowed to affix a "1" to the end of it when referring to the first work in that series.

You're likely right. Nothing is going to top the soundtracks of the first few mixes. You know, before DDR got really big and sold out.

They made a DDR game for PS3 and Wii awhile back so this is the sequel. Does it have Boom Boom Dollar or Butterfly in it? If not I couldn't care less.

I'm aware of the Hottest Party DDR titles on the Wii, but I don't know of any other DDR titles on the platform other than this new one.

Clearly they jumped straight to the sequel of a reboot.

aww, don't be like that. i haven't really played ddr at all, but i've only heard that the soundtracks are pretty awful in the newer games.

    I'm not hatin'!

In all honesty, I'd say that the soundtracks started going downhill sometime after DDR 5th Mix. The music choices just started becoming more questionable, but I really think that does in fact have to do with the way that the audience expanded. The soundtracks just started becoming less recognizable as DDR and more generalized in terms of pop music.

@Hailinel: i saw bruno mars somewhere in that trailer. like i said, not too much ddr experience but i'm not really sure how any bruno mars song (from my memory) could work with how ddr plays-- unless it's changed dramatically since i last remember it.

Konami just isn't that good at numbering sequels. Remember Frogger II, Frogger 2, and Frogger 2?

And I'm still waiting for Castlevania V, Konami.

I'm sorry but any dance game not on Kinect is not worth playing.
If you have played any dance game on wii or ps3 & then Dance Central on the Kinect you know why.

@Coombs: That would require me to do two things:

    1. Buy a Kinect, which I am not going to do for the sake of one game (and I wouldn't have the space in my home for it anyway), and

    2. Buy a 360, which I refuse to do because I am not rewarding Microsoft after junking my old one for frequent breakdowns and damaged discs. I don't care if it's been refined since then. I am not going to reward Microsoft for frustrating me.

    @Hailinel: Not saying you should,
So long as you don't want to play a dancing game
    or
don't mind playing a FAR inferior one

Just saying the input of a motion sensor strapped to your leg or in your hand is absolute garbage when compared to
the full body tracking the Kinect provides for a game like this.
To be clear I'm not claiming the Kinect is something you MUST have, But since we're talking dancing games here
I just needed to say, The Kinect is by far the superior way to play.
