Jen Horsey is the Canadian female co-driver, Ross Hunter is the Scottish male co-driver. They are real people: both are rally drivers. Jen drives in Rally America, while Ross is active in the UK.

For those of you unaware of the difference, simple is akin to "medium-left" while complex is "left 3".

    Personally, I use Ross (Complex).

Ross was default in my version of the game so I use him. I luke it when he screws up or when he "thinks" he's still alive after a crash

Jen Complex, I can't use  simple directions as they confuse me and make me fuck up more than precise directions.

I'm always with Ross Hunter. I like his Scottish accent.

I feel the same way. The simple directions are more confusing because I don't really know how exactly to turn, whereas I generally know what each numbered turn is going to behave like, along with the plus/minus and opens/tightens modifiers.

    This.

Ross (Complex) was actually default on my game, probably because I started on advanced. Either way, I was used to him from Dirt 2, so it stuck.

I don't even bother playing with the sound on most the time now.  I don't find the tracks to be all that difficult and i can easily look up and see whats coming.
