Just started playing DOTA 2 when it released, and I've still lots to learn. Seeing how there's no such thread yet, this should be a neat avenue to get the skinny on how to play DOTA 2. Let me start things off with what little wisdom I can impart.

1. No build is complete without a good pair of boots!
2. Skeleton King is the King of skeletons and does not take kindly to pretenders.
3. Rubick can steal firefly from batrider and when doing so he will ride his staff while singing his legs in childish glee, will make any game of dota infinitely more fun.
4. If you're getting power treads, always get the strength belt before the attack speed gloves. At the level you get power treads, the HP gained from the belt is much more valuable than the minimal amount of DPS the gloves will give you at that level.
5. I suck, you suck, everybody sucks, and it's still fun.
6. How to play Mirana: Shoot arrow. Hit arrow.
7. Puck is a pretty lady.
8. To get the DOTA 2 profile picture to update, restart your Steam client after updating your Steam profile pic.
9. I hate the human race.
10. When you do well as a support, no one will notice. When you mess up, no one will let you forget.
11. If you double-click Blink Dagger you flash towards your fountain.
12. If you are being targeted by a tower, you can a-click an ally (hero or creep) to reset the aggro.
13. If you ALT+Enter after selecting your hero, you will load into the game immediately when the game goes live.
14. If there's an Anti-Mage in the game, it's not over.
15. You can stage a comeback at practically any time. Last few minutes of the game and they're pushing your ancient? A good defensive team fight and counter-push can win the game for you.
16. Hitting stuff is fun.
17. Ursa can and will take Roshan level one if he has someone who can heal him, and it is the single most terrifying thing.
18. It's better to be one man down than to have someone useless on your team.
19. It's Blackmoore's (@do_the_manta_ray) fault.
20. Crystal Maiden is OP.
21. Everything, including @mr_skeleton, is my fault. (You, your mother and I need to have a long talk... Son.)
22. Yelling at people helps.
23. Supports win games. Wards, detection (Dust of Appearance, Sentry Wards, Gem and Necro Book Lvl 3) and smoke ganks are essential to victory in higher-tiered matches.
24. You can substitute the Belt of Strength" with a "Boots of Elvenskin" or "Mantle of Intelligence" when building your Power-Treads to match your current need.
25. Setting up a Tournament is an enjoyable trip to hell and back and there again.
26. Always carry a town portal scroll on you at all times.
27. Dota 2 is lame, the internet is lame, playing with yourself is always more fun.

28. Everytime Enigma uses Black Hole it's mandatory to yell "BLAAAAACCKKKKK HOOOOOOLLEEEEE"

29. Dota 2 is fun to watch with the Giant Bomb community.

30. Voice chat can be used to ask for help whilst you're alive, not just for blaming people for your death, once you're dead.
