The 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California on June 15-17.
Press Conference Grades
Nintendo: B
(Ignoring the third party Wii games, horrible technical issues with Zelda and Epic Mickey, too much boring talk, otherwise great)
Sony: C+
(Embarassing sucking up to 12 year old "core" gamers, a parade of explosion and gun games, overall not that exciting but solid performances and games. NO THE LAST GUARDIAN!)
EA: C+
(Nothing noteworthy, but entertaining enough)
Microsoft: C-
(I liked their stage the most, but the games were just not appealing to me. Kinda boring and lame.)
Ubisoft: D+
(Not the worst games, I loved the Dust and Rayman announcements, good lineup of games - but sorry, the host was almost unbearable. What a horrible pain in the ass that guy was. Also laser tag.)
Nintendo-A
Sony-B
Microsoft-C
Nintendo seemed really on there game and kept hitting me with new games, the most suprising part about them
was the fact that they almost all had the 2010 release date.
Sony's would have been an A if Jack Trenton didn't seem to talk for the entire 2 FRICKING HOURS!
They were also the only one who really had montages, which i like.
Microsoft focused way to much on Kinect, i was hoping they would leave all that at the cirque thing but no.
Bullet Storm and Gears looked cool which saved it from a D.
I'm excited to hear more about the games that weren't shown at the conferences like Castlevania and others. Hopefully
we will get some good show floor coverage.
Just finished watching the Sony Press Conference. Still have to watch the other two. Sony gets a B-.
Microsoft - D
The whole conference was so disjointed. They seemed to be rushing through the core content, the games that have made the 360 what it is, in favor of on stage time for the Kinect. What they did show of Kinect was a lot of Wii like titles, with only Kinectimals and Dance Central coming off as fun experiences.
Electronic Arts - B
A lot of games were shown in stage in a pretty fun to watch show. Seeing the return of Hot Pursuit was nice to see, and seeing how far a long Dead Space 2 and Medel of Honor was refreshing.
Ubi Soft - C
After the disaster that was James Cameron explaning the entire plot of Avatar last year, it would be hard to do much worse. Seeing a traditional Rayman platformer again was good, but a lot of questions from titles past, like Beyond Good and Evil 2, just keeps one scratching their head.
Nintendo - A.
They had a lot of content in their time, the event moved smoothly from point to point, and they showed off actual games on stage this year, and not the usual casual fair like Wii Fit or Wii Music.
Sony - B
A little heavy on the montages, but a solid showing nonetheless. Having Kevin Butler involved was nice, but getting a solid date of release for Gran Turismo 5, seeing what 3D can do in the form of Killzone 3, and having the Move show off actual solid titles made the Sony show a solid experience.
Konami - Incomplete
How does one grade such an entertaining trainwreck?
