F.A.T.H.E.R was built by the S.A.A.T., and resides in the S.A.A.T. headquarters, C.O.R.E.. As the most progressive advanced AI unit, F.A.T.H.E.R is expected to maintain and oversee research and development at C.O.R.E..
The Anno 2070 story campaign is split into three chapters; F.A.T.H.E.R. makes his first appearance in the first mission of the second chapter. F.A.T.H.E.R becomes the main antagonist after scanning information from a mysterious sunken ark (arks act as a local headquarters for environmental and industrial exploration). F.A.T.H.E.R. recognizes Dr. Bartok, and by extension S.A.A.T., as an enemy. The player is tasked with running an antivirus through F.A.T.H.E.R. systems. After the antivirus is ran F.A.T.H.E.R. and his ark disconnects from C.O.R.E., and leaves in order to rise against S.A.A.T.
F.A.T.H.E.R is set to reappear in the Deep Ocean expansion as the rebuilt F.A.T.H.E.R 2.0.
