FFXIV coming Sept.30
" haha, that's hilarious; it took them 5 years to do FFXIII, and I know they're different teams, but... "
if i remember right this was announced back in 2005 but under a code name and who knows how long they had been working on the game before that
still this seems a little soon since the large scaled beta hasn't started yet
" haha, that's hilarious; it took them 5 years to do FFXIII, and I know they're different teams, but... "They have been working on FFXIV for many years.
Ill wait for opinions on the game. I hated FF XI with a passion. I am into Lord of the Rings Online.
" is there a monthly fee? if so i wont be interested. the collectors edition looks nice though... "It's an MMO. People should stop expecting big MMO's to be free. They never have been.
I never played XI but wasn't the deal that they picked your server for you, then you have to be invited and pay to transfer to the server your friend's play on?
Anyone know how this works in XIV?
Are you allowed to pick your own server so you can play with your friends?
Also, has payment been detailed?
Is it going to be P2P...? jaaaay kaaay guiz!
But I really hope it isn't because I'm a cheap bastard...
" This is absolutely nuts. Wasn't expecting this until next year at the earliest. "Yeah same here, I'm really excited.
I saw this post.
My interest grew.
I decided to watch the trailer again.
Between the music and this guy:
...I began remembering why my interest was so low. :P
It looks like mostly an engine change since almost all the character models are the same from FFXI except they changed the names of the races. I still really looking forward to it I spent alot of time in vulkrum dunes with almost every job. It was almost impossible to solo level in that game hopefully that changes.

"Yeah I heard it's a lot easier to solo.
You can order the PS3 version on amazon as well right now, there just isnt a collectors edition for that version." Is this release date PC only? I haven't seen anything for a PS3 release yet. Or is the release date for both platforms? "
Edit: just realized the different date for the PS3 version as pointed out by Bones8677, looks like they made the decision for me to get it on the PC instead. Its probably better that way.

"They changed how that system worked about 8 months after XI launched - the World Pass (to invite your friends to your server, did have to be bought but with in-game money). Several years later they released a Server Transfer service, where you could pay real money to change servers - WoW has something similar I believe. As it stand in XI you're allowed to pick 99% of the servers (there's one that is blocked off for transfer and new players due to over population). 12.95/month is SE traditional model with each extra character costing an extra Dollar per month.
" I saw this post. That man is wearing Subligar - if you lack the ability to appreciate Subligar, no FF MMO is right for you.

I'll check it out, but I fully expect to stop playing by the time the new Star Wars MMO is out.
Might or might not jump on this, I have a few gaming buddies from ffxi but we haven't played anything for years, my pc most likely will have to run it at shitty res with no effects on. I'd play it on ps3, but that'd be 6months from the pc version, but then I think everyone will have already done most of the missions.
" @Zero_ said:If the the game is truly cross platform and you can bring your PC characters over to the PS3 - I may get the PC version first, but that'd be money I'd know will go to waste since I'll pretty much only be playing it on the PS3. The couch and big TV is too nice :)" Can't wait for this to come out on the PS3 "You'll have to wait another 6 months after the PC release for that, which is what made my decision between the two versions.
