I really don't get it. I'm cool with most Bombcast tangents, but how do they find a way to use the term "California King" and mention mattress firmness like at least once a month? Seriously, in my adult life, I buy a good mattress, then I NEVER have to think about beds for a good 5-6 years minimum. It just baffles me that they can stay on the topic for like 15 minutes. But whatever, I guess they're old men now or something.
How do they keep talking about mattresses?
Because Ryan has been having sleep issues and he usually dictates bombcast conversation. Also sleep takes up about half of your life, so when it sucks you tend to notice.
I always thought "I'd listen to these guys talk about anything!" but the mattress discussion tested that!
I slept on my floor for a large portion of my elementary and high school years because that's how comfortable my floor was and that's how uncomfortable my bed was...
Don't know why I'm sharing this.
This forum thread is already infinitely more interesting than the 15-minutes spent talking about mattresses on this week's podcast. Mission accomplished.I slept on my floor for a large portion of my elementary and high school years because that's how comfortable my floor was and that's how uncomfortable my bed was...

@BisonHero: This could be helpful.
Also , it gets really old and boring when they talk about the WII U for a long time . We get it , you guys don't like it STOP TALKING! :P Wish Patrick was there to at least have original , intelligent thoughts about it ..
Don't get me wrong LOVE the bombcast , but recently hasn't been very good .

Brad's bed story justifies the topic.
True.
Of any long-winded discussion that I feel could have been edited out, this was not one of them. If you're going to complain about revisited topics that never lead to interesting discussion, it would be cable/internet service
I had a futon for about seven years after I graduated college. Replacing it with an actual bed was one of the greatest things ever. Tossing it out for an actual couch to boot was even better. Because as great as my bed is, my couch is just that awesome.Man, I slept on a futon (in the COUCH position, no less) from the start of high school to college and a few years into my working life.
I still miss that futon.

I'm right there with you. When they laughed at Brad for his full, I became incredibly ashamed.
It might explain why I wake up every morning feeling like someone jabbed a billion needles into my lower back.
I come to the bombcast for the tangents and 'real' talk, so the mattress stuff was much more entertaining for me than the hours of talk given to the Wii U in the last three shows. It's a super slow, shitty as fuck system that might eventually have some really great games on it, it doesn't warrant(or deserve) anymore discussion.

He was being laughed at by two men pushing 400 pounds. They use full-size mattresses as shoeliner inserts.

@mtcantorHey man, I am on board with all other tangents. But seriously: beds. Might as well be talking about watching paint dry.Oh hi topic complaining about Bombcast tangents. I haven't seen you in weeks. How have you been?
You spend 8 hours a day on a bed. You should give it more thought.

Seriously. Take a night, sleep on it, you will come around.
I just don't understand how Brad managed to sleep on what was basically a piece of shit (hell even shit might be more comfortable) at least he got a proper bed this time. Also, I'm dreading when I'm old enough to say that I'm finally an early morning person....fuck that.

I slept on a cot in the living room for a couple years in middle school, because I lived in a three bedroom house with two sisters, and we didn't even have a couch or futon. Eventually, I just had a twin bed in the living room, which was almost as weird. My clothes were in the drawers in the bathroom, since that's where I had to change. Man, my childhood was janky as fuck, looking back on it. When I got my first (and current) apartment, I slept on the floor on a folded up comforter for a few weeks before I finally got myself a queen bed, but now I own the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. It's pretty great. Also much larger than a single, 125-pound guy like me really needs.
Simple, more baffling why you just didn't fast forward past it on the bombcast or just comment on the specific bombcast about your hatred of mattresses instead of creating a single forum about something that really doesn't need more discussion. Beds are necessary & should be comfortable and everyone should have one, end of discussion.
They all know that this videogame bubble is going to burst, so they want something to fall back on. That is why Giant Bomb is slowly transforming into (better) mattress, local pizzeria and ham-radio orientated website.

I welcome this change. Also, I want to hear more about Jeff's car purchasing thoughts. Is he still sort of thinking of maybe getting a Lexus? Or no? Would he go with an asian manufacturer just in general or is he partial to american cars?
GIANTBOMB: What are your thoughts on hammocks as sleeping device?
That lasted about as long as any normal conversation people have about stuff, do your conversations with your friends stay 100% on topic for 2h-3h hours straight?
