Way back, Jeff and others mentioned a game where nations fought each other in nuclear war...

They mentioned they could make it everyone vs. the US, NATO vs. Pact, and so on. What was that game? I'd love to leave it up as a screensaver if nothing else.

DEFCON maybe not the game but it's still cool.

I guess I won't know what it is for sure unless I buy DEFCON - I really only have their verbal description to go on. In DEFCON, can you set all players to AI and let them fight it out?

@sully: I'm pretty sure that's the only way I ever 'played' it, setting everything to AI and watching the world end.

@sully: sounds like Defcon..they mention not even wanting to play it, setting the AI to attack each other and leave it up on a monitor like a screen saver. I wasn't all that into it, but it does aesthetically look cool.

@sully: Give some youtube videos a shot, there's some with 6 AI going at it.

Here's just one of the first I found when searching.

It's Defcon. There's a menu option for "rolling demo" that instantly sets up a game with AI playing against itself... the problem is that each game only lasts 5 - 10 minutes and you have to start each new game by hand making it not very useful as a screensaver.

Great - thanks guys. Though how weird is it that I can throw out a vague memory of something said on a podcast years ago and like 5 people know exactly what I mean within 5 minutes? That's wild.

@sully: There hasn't been many global nuclear armageddon games released over the past few years.
