This was discussed before, sort of. Now that it has a page, we should talk about it for real.

Is it a game? I say it's not.

I honestly can't see IMVU counting as a game.

If it has some sort of sandbox element I'm not aware of than yes it is but it just seems like avatars and a graphical instant messenger.

Playing devil's advocate here since I also don't consider it a game. So how is it any different than HOME? I'm aware HOME has minigames now, but when it was announced I don't recall that being mentioned. It was basically an IM service with avatars (basically IMVU) and a lobby system to be used with games.

I don't think Playstation Home should be a game either, maybe a concept.

Totally NOT a game. Not to mention you should never let your girlfriend install that shit... Viruses and Trojans a plenty to be found in the installer alone.

If IMVU is a game, so is IRC and so is Second Life.  None of them are games - all of them are chat environments.
