Why does it have to be better than all of those games? I never played it but I remember seeing it on Hollywood Video shelves when I was younger. Wish I had picked it up, thought it always looked way too weird everytime.

That's honestly what I want to know. It was neither funny nor original. At the time, it might have gotten less slack since people were craving that type of platforming game, but it has somehow aged even more poorly than stuff like Banjo-Kazooie and DK 64.
Seems like I'm hating on Nintendo products like no other today.

Thats because there are a lot of kids on Giantbomb who were born after 1990. (Yes, it doesn't matter if you are 21, if you were born from 1990 onwards you are still a kid) The n64 was probably their first system that they remember playing often. Now they and are suddenly feeling nostalgic about the good ol' days.
My favorite platformer on the 64 is Shadow Man (with the 4mb ram expansion pack), although I believe the Dreamcast version is superior.
