Looking forward to seeing some of these! I like the idea of seeing a glimpse of some of these Early Access/beta/alpha games, as I tend to avoid them (I tend to get my fill of the game as an unfinished product, then don't feel like playing when it's actually out).
A Few Words About Unfinished
I think this is great, but I got a question:
Would episodic games fit under Unfinished? Thinking about that because Broken Age and Banner Saga still require the other parts to be released to be considered a "finished" product. What if they falter? Or the gameplay proves too light to cover that much game?
As we see more and more episodic games coming from Telltale in the next few years, I'd like to see coverage of those first few episodes, not just some coverage when the season is complete.
I think it's a good way to have content for betas or previews that indie developers put out through their various outlets (Kickstarter, Steam Early Access, etc.) since the "final product" may not be what initially drew people's attention.
I'm playing Broken Age in it's "beta" state, but aside from some graphical glitches with image layering it's pretty much good to do. It should be covered.
It's a good idea, but the name is pretty dry.
I don't suppose you considered the title Work In Progress? That sounds more like a Giant Bomb feature to me.
Agreed. Good idea, but the name needs work. Much too unimaginative and stale. Doesn't fit Giant Bomb to me.
Is the unfinished tag line cemented already or could it be something else? I think if you open it up to a forum thread, or these comments here, maybe something cool could come of it. To me unfinished implies the video is not complete.
I guess we are the only ones that don't like the name. It has a negative ring to it, it sounds more like a developer interview about their experience with cancelled games.
Early Access games aren't about being unfinished, its about getting in early and being involved as the game nears completion. It is a preview.
I really like the name 'Early Look' that Drew mentioned. But it doesn't really matter.
I like this. The name makes sense and conveys what it needs to. Now let's get that GiantBomb DayZ & Rust livestream going!
Thanks for keeping us in the loop Jeff! Stuff like this is why I'm so happy to give you guys my money.
Sounds great to me, really like the title. It will be interesting to see more of the Early Access type stuff get previewed and I'm glad that it'll be available to everyone and not just through UPF (even though I subscribe, stuff like this I really think should extend to everyone).

I like sneak peak, early access, or something along those lines.
While it all sounds good and been a long time ignored, it will be ultimately the attitude and mood of GB when you are showing off an early title. I moved on to a lot of Lets Play videos that have been doing this for over a year and the individuals(s) presenting these games are excited to show and play them. And this isnt watching a 20 minute quick look, these are multiple shows of one game that were ENTERTAINING each time. And what else has it done, its got me to add games in to my steam wishlist or bought games i had never heard prior to watching. That is your competition and its growing. You all have that ability but if this just more of the same to fill space it wont be successful. I really hope this is something GB wants to do and not following what everyone else is doing.

Endurance Runs, Breaking Brad and Load Our Last Save all do exactly what you just described. I think GB is successful because they don't tie themselves down to one specific thing. I love me some Endurance Runs, but I return to GB because of the personalities. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds the vast majority of Youtubers to be really grating and irritating... I think these are very similar but different audiences.
Will this be retroactive? Or just going forward? Would something like the Don't Starve or Mercenary Kings Quick Looks be considered Unfinished?
I like the new naming scheme and the decision to bring some early access/beta/preview stuff to the forefront of coverage on the site. Personally I don't look at release lists for most games and consider when I start seeing footage of it in the wild as it being "released" or at least soon to be, so I think this will be a helpful distinction.

Yeah, and what about Battlefield 4?
