Another new (i.e. fourth) Arkham game

There was some confusion over the weekend over a comment made by Kevin Conroy about doing a lot of voice work for the next Arkham game. Turns out he's referring to one not yet announced. This popped up on twitter, then was deleted soon after:

I've loved the Arkham series so far but am starting to worry they're going to run it into the ground. Hopefully Rocksteady is back for this next game and will be changing up the formula a good bit.

Arkham: Beyond. Make it happen, Rocksteady.

There's no such tweet on his twitter.

I take it this'll be the Rocksteady Arkham game then? Still, guess that clears up some things. Even though Roger Craig Smith's already confirmed to play Batman (fucking yes), I figured that Conroy would have also possibly bookended it as he plays the 'present day' older Batman. I'm glad that's not the case anywhoo; would have only made it weird to have the character have two different voice actors in on game like that.

Also, he could be referring to that other recently announced Batman: Arkham game. The one for portable consoles.

So this is the next-gen thing then.

Arkham Origins, however, I'm not so interested in at this point.

Even though I much prefer the Batman Beyond name to the more familiar Batman of The Future, I think 'Arkham: Of The Future' would be a pretty fucking awesome name. Arkham: Beyond is still pretty good, though. And of course the point still stands that we need a Terry McGinnis Batman game with the same amount of polish as the Arkham games!

Are you sure he's not talking about that '"Silver Age" Batman game that Rocksteady's developing?

That this series will continue to have to be referred to as Arkham (in some way) because of brand recognition is increasingly hilarious to me.

Why do they have to keep on with the Arkham name? Cant do Gotham? Every game has to be about a prison?

Surely enough people (EVERYONE!) know who Batman is at this point and they can just ditch the Arkham bit from the title of these games? It made sense with the first one, but it's pretty ridiculous now.

Arkham Brotherhood is inevitable.

I'd love Rocksteady to create a new IP. Just let other people mess with Batman while a clearly very talented studio work on something entirely new.

They will run out of DC villains/get bored of the Joker eventually, then the cross-promotional branding exercises can begin in earnest.

Man, they are set for a while.

If Batman's voice is still into doing Batman games; why isn't he doing Batman: Arkham Origins?

If they are cheaping out on voice actors for the game, what else are they skimping on?

I imagine it's a stylistic choice because Batman is supposed to be younger in Arkham Origins? He's being voiced by Roger Craig Smith (i.e. Chris Redfield) and the Joker is being voiced by Troy Baker... which I think is way weirder.
