It seems like EA and Activision are both trying to artificially divide a community as of late, and it seems to be working. Browsing the local game shop, I've heard many a conversations over whether a person will be buying Battlefield or Call of Duty. Go to online forums, and those cesspools are brimming with countless "<blank> is better than <blank>" heads up battles.

Am I the only one that, not only loves both series, but will also be buying both?

I love them both and will be buying both. I just don't like how similar they're getting.

No I'm only getting Battlefield 3 this year. I sold all my Call of Duty games because I didn't like where the series was going. I hope Battlefield 3 is good, looks like it's really shaping up to be great.

Call of Duty offers great infantry based battles. That's about it, though. I prefer Battlefield.

It is impossible to like games that are competing. Consumers are fooled by marketing tactics and choose one game over the other and call each other names.

I like both but prefer Battlefield, doesn't mean I don't like Call of Duty and am going to berate people that like it... unless people are ridiculous about it that is.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, if you put a gun to my head and said I could only pick one, I'd choose Battlefield (Its my preference as a multiplayer game) but I'm still planning on getting both.

The way I see it, Call of Duty shines during its epic, Michael Bay-esque single player; and Battlefield shines during its balanced and (usually) strategic multiplayer.

There's room for both on my shelf.

I loved both, and now I'm starting to get tried of both. There's just not enough change between iterations. I'll still be buying both games this year but I don't know if can keep doing it next year.

I've never played a Battlefield game, and I'll probably rent BF3 or something when it comes out, but I don't think I'd enjoy BF3's multiplayer nearly as much as I'll probably enjoy MW3's.

I'm moderately indifferent about Battlefield (I'll play it every now and again) and I actively dislike Call of Duty.

I really enjoy both series.  I enjoy CoD 1 and 2 era most of all, and CoD4 is definitely my favorite of the modern iterations.  Didnt like MW2 at all because of how horribly unbalanced it was, and Black Ops was better but still not up to the standard of 4 and the older games especially.  Battlefieild is a lot of fun, but I feel like it's much more rewarding when playing with friends.  Really depends on what kind of mood I'm in and whether I have my friends available.  At this point though, I've already purchased BF3, and MW3 needs to show me something different for me to get on board.

I'm indifferent towards Battlefield and enjoy CoD, but the idea some people have that you can only like one of two competing brands is wholly ridiculous.

Also, I love Halo.

I really love both COD and Battlefield. Other than being first person shooters, they play very differently and offer a different gameplay experience. When I get tired of one, I swap to the other.

I like them both for different reasons.

Battlefield for the epic battles and large scale maps.

Call of Duty for quick and dirty skirmishes with small maps.

That being said, I think the most fun I have had between the two was with a Battlefield game.

I will probably get both because I love FPS games. But, I have more faith in Battlefield these days.

I generally prefer Battlefield to COD, but it really depends on the individual game, for example, I thought Black Ops was better than say Bad Company 2

I like both, but I have played mostly Battlefield series.

And as much people have said they are both good on their own merits.. I do not share the impression they getting to similar. They fairly different in my eyes, now playing the BF3 alpha I'll say they never been more different.

I like both franchises, and really wouldn't say I prefer one over the other -- they both have different strengths and weaknesses, and which one I want to play depends on what I'm in the mood for. I know I will pick up MW3 eventually, but considering I've had a new CoD game to play every year since CoD4, I can stand to wait a few months. Battlefield games haven't been so abundant, though, so I've already pre-ordered Battlefield 3 in anticipation.

What's unfortunate for me is that most of my friends have since subscribed to the "There Can Be Only One" mindset and will only play a selected franchise. Once was a time when my same group of friends could get together and enjoy Halo, Call of Duty, or Battlefield equally. Lately, though, those same people claim that anything other than their new franchise of choice "sucks" and "isn't fun" and seem to have completely forgotten that they used to find all of these games very enjoyable. People can convince themselves of anything, apparently, and are all too willing to do so.

Personally, I like the variety that multiple, very different FPSes offer. And that's why it's a shame that I can no longer enjoy them with friends. As much as I like all the above games, they're all far better experiences while playing with people you know. As it is, I'm mostly stuck playing Bad Company 2 all the time, as it's the one that my brother (who I do most of my online gaming with, as it's the only way we can "hang out" when we're on opposite sides of the country) and several of our mutual friends have latched onto. And while I like Bad Company 2, I really don't want to play it all the time. But trying to convince my brother to play anything other than the co-op portions of a game like Black Ops (Zombies) or Halo (Firefight) is like pulling teeth.

I like to think that Battlefield 3 is what I'm looking for.

I really just don't want to play a texture swapped boat sequence from MW2 again. No matter how cool they've made it.

I play both as they are both different games with a good change of pace from each other.   Call Of Duty is this generations twitch shooter while Battlefield is a bit more tactical and slower paced.

Games are just games, it's the fanboys that are irritating.
I prefer Battlefield, Call of Duty is ok.  They're quite different in my opinion and there's obviously room for both.  I like Halo too.

Call of Duty has gotten so stale since W@W. It becomes the same game every year. I play it a lot for a few months, then sell it. I've been playing BC2 since it came out. Still have a lot of fun with it.
I'll be buying BF3 and maybe Gamefly MW3.
