Poll Are the camera boxes on videos too big now? (102 votes)

Yes, I WANT TO SEE THE FUCKING GAME. 39%
No, you are mental. 61%

I don't know why but the size of the camera overlays has taken up more and more of the screen for the past year. My opinion is that I would like to see more of the actual game and less of the background in their studio. This is especially apparent in this latest "What the fark is Ark?" stream. The cam frames are GIGANTIC and the game is barely a third of the screen, making it impossible to read text or generally see wtf is going on. It's one thing to have it on old 4:3 games but to have it on a modern widescreen game is infuriating. Most of the time half of the camera frame isn't even a person's face, it's just the background of the studio.

Is it laziness in setting up overlays?

Is it narcissism in wanting to see their faces bigger?

Vinny, Jason, Abby, I love to watch you guys but I want to see the game. PLEASE tighten up those shots.

That is all,

Dweez

I'm here for the clean & dirty faces.

50% GB / 50% Game is fine by me.

30 / 70 is probably more accurate though, just as a guess.

I don't think I feel quite as strongly as you do but I do think they can achieve a better ratio towards more game, less studio background. I didn't mind it either when they were in a tiny box over a UI or something.

We should've just stuck with 4:3 gaming even after 16:9 screen came into play.

It's good when there's someone able to switch between full screen game and with the crew. But I don't really mind it anyway.

I know sometimes they have a lot of people on deck and want them in the shot so i could imagine it being kind of a pain in the ass to frame.

Vinny or Abby seemed to take this criticism to heart and made some changes a bit ago.

Yeah it could use some refinement. What is more distracting is the exposure and colour temperature on the cameras which are often completely mismatched.

It was a bit much on the Ark stream. Definitely something I noticed while watching. Any bigger and they would be venturing into obnoxious youtuber territory.

Yep. Not constantly, but it's definitely bothered me at times. I know that stuff can be hard to frame, so I feel that, but I'd much rather be not quite be able to see their faces than be not quite able to see the game.

Not a huge deal though, especially with the more podcast-y content (ala Blue Bombin and Steal my Sunshine)

Eventually we will only see the game as reflections in their eyes.
