Desert Bus For Hope 2010!

Tomorrow, for the 4th year in a row, the guys at LoadingReadyRun will embark on their annual charity drive, the desert bus for hope. What is desert bus for hope and why should you care? They can say it better than me:

What is Desert Bus for Hope? We are a charity fundraiser for Child’s Play. We raise money by playing the world’s worst video game, Desert Bus, in exchange for donations. The more money raised, the longer we play. That said, it would be pretty boring just to watch a bunch of people play the world’s worst video game. That’s why we have contests, live auctions, silent auctions, incredible prizes and a complete lack of self respect. We’ll also be accepting challenges to do all manner of silly things (Songs, Dances, Poems, Readings, etc) in exchange for donations.

I remember hearing about this on A Life Well Wasted.  I'll check it out.

Sounds like a good cause. I'll make sure to try and tell people about this.

Gotta love loadingreadyrun for what they're doing. 

Shame it's Desert Bus. I get why they pick but it's such a dull, tedious game. You may as well just stream some paint drying. If you're gonna play a long game there are plenty to pick from. Marathon all the original Megaman games, get all the Stars in Mario64, play all the Tomb Raider games. Don't do Desert Bus, even if it's for a good cause. 
 
That said, it IS a very good cause and I wish them the best of luck.

I donated, and I love the idea, but God help me there's no way I'm going to actually watch it.

Somehow I've managed to catch this every year. Looking forward to having it on in the background for the next few days. Also it's starting after the Happy Hour, convenient.

I never really understood how they played that game, wasn't it cancelled? Is it a pirated/leaked version or something?

Desert Bus is not the worst game ever. This is.

Oh god. They are doing 24 hour shifts? People could barely stay sane on four hour shifts.

This should be a sticky. Giant Bomb and by association Whiskey Media seem like the type of company that should be promoting Desert Bus for Hope. This is a group who deal with several days of torment in an attempt to raise funds and build awareness for a good cause. They turn "gaming" into so much more than a hobby.
