DS-X2 report that some retailers had hundreds of people waiting to grab hold of a DSi or two, but many learnt that chances were slim. Popular stores weren't even able to get their stock on shelves due to masses of pre-ordering.

As my Lite has been screwed for a while now, I think I will buy a DSi, it has some pretty cool design tweaks.

Yup, very cool. Thanks for the pics. I am so looking forward to replacing my old huge red DS with broken hinges. The lite always just made me go "eh, mine still works" but the DSi is a step up that I will definitely be getting.

The only thing I was holding onto my PSP for was the internet browser. Guess I can sell the worthless piece of junk now.

I am assuming for regular DS games, on the game cart itself is still the same.  For downloadable games, I would then assume the SD card.
If they could make all DS games have a seperate memory save file on the SD card, this would be a significant selling point for me (not likely to happen though).  A big irritation all along with DS games is the single save file (like Pokemon games).  This has meant in our house of 3, I have had to settle for one person getting the game (not getting multiple copies)  or deleting and starting when someone finishes (not bleeding likely with all the work involved).

The reason they would be unlikely to save on the SD card for DS games is that it is a money spinner, knowing that many will buy multiple copies in a family setting.

The DSi proving yet again the japanese will buy the 5th rererererelease of your product with no real upgrade...as long as you include stickers.

This is the 3rd version of the DS - Phat, Lite and i.  The PSP got there with 3 versions earlier.  I really fail to see a problem (for those who do).  There will always be things that were not available or too expensive to include originally.  Would it be better to stagnate?  No-one has to buy the newer versions, they all (including the one you have) still do the basic things (play games).

I have lost count already how many skus of the PS3 and 360s there has been.  The Wii is still on the first.  The Cube was only one and so was the N64.  It is not as if Nintendo is the gouger some (haters) make them out to be.  It is also a sign of the times with technology changing so quickly.  I have managed to last the entire life of mobile phones with just 4 of them (2 analogue and 2 digital).  Then there is the MP3 players - iPod anyone?

Yeah, the DSi is actually an upgrade from the DS Lite. Phat to Lite was all cosmetic, nothing software/hardware related.

I'd say the DSi is a huge upgrade from the Lite and leaps and bounds from the Phat.
What I don't get is the PSP upgrades. Everyone of them is the exact same pretty much.

^ man i hope they dont hark back to the gamecube era.  epic fail.  they have gone and included an sd card slot....that should be the way forward.  not better graphics, better games.

if you want better graphics, just suck up your fanboyism and get a psp.

Are the power and volume buttons located on the left of the DSi?...because that side wasn't shown and those pics didn't show a power/volume button.

Look at the first pic, it's on the inside now. On the evidence of that very pic you can alter the volume on screen now.

Hmmm...I can't say that I particularly like that new setup.
