Favourite Well-Known Fighting game Series?

Although most the new ones sucked, I dont get as much enjoyment from any other fighting game than chopping a dudes head off. But I didnt like Armageddon or MK vs DC-MKDC because of the lack of blood, Armageddon because of the lack of depth.

Although NUNS is pretty high up there.

Street Fighter without a second of thought.

Surprises me that anyone would pick Mortal Kombat though... It's always bee a pile of shit gameplay wise, sure it has the style but then so do a lot of other things.

Disappointed that Dead or Alive isn't considered well-known, but that is my favorite fighting series; Darkstalkers is a close second though.

Soulcalibur. Let the haters hate, and maybe it's not the best, but in my book it's my favourite.

Sorry, I havent played Dead or Alive, Samurai Shodown, or Darkstalkers-although Ive hearda them. Just didnt think of them at the time. I know anime though. But thats why the Other is there."

No Guilty Gear? I suck at fighting games, but at least Guilty Gear/BlazBlue are noyce to look at.

I thought Tekken would be sky high up there with SF.

I expected Street Fighter to be top dog; it probably deserves it. But I am a little surprised to see Soulcalibur ahead of Tekken and Mortal Kombat. Obviously I'm not the only one who loves that franchise. And c'mon guys, no votes for Virtua Fighter? That's just messed up. VF5 was my first game in the series and I love it. It's my second favourite current gen fighting game, after Soulcalibur IV.

If Jeff saw this thread, he'd blow his lid seeing Soulcalibur beating VF and MK, two of his favourite fighting franchises.
