Giantbomb Tattoo

Hey guys I was thinking yesterday that I might get a memorial tattoo in memory of Ryan Davis! Was thinking of doing the bomb in the giantbomb logo and then some banner with RIP RYAN DAVIS. Just wondering what you guys think about this?

Eh, id say think long and hard, not saying to not do it but you will have that for the rest of your life, make sure you want it and think about how hard it will be to explain it in 30 years or something if the sites gone. Id go for something a little less specific like just the bomb as @morningstar said. Then its just a cool looking bomb to most people and you can explain further why you got it if someone asks. My 2 cents.

There is never a good reason to get tattoo and there is likely to always come a time when you will regret it. But then isn't that the point? Dd it because you want to do it now, for the moment. Tattoo's are dumb, though not stupid. So on that basis, I say go for it.

Just the bomb could be cool, hell even if Ryan didn't pass away it could be a cool tattoo. As long as its not like huge and in your face it could be nice.

Don't be dumb. Pop culture tattoos are always dumb. Wait at least a year and if you still want it go ahead, but don't really. Sites come and go and get rebranded all the time. A couple years from now the site may be gone and the staff replaced and then you got this dumb tattoo.

I'd go with 'RIP Ryan Davis' in three rows of binary, personally. Unless you live with a bunch of AI who speak binary as their first language, it'll be subtle enough not to be embarrassing to tell people who aren't a member of this community.

Though I still think getting a tattoo to remember him by is a poor idea.

In my opinion, there is something quite morbid about getting a tattoo with a reference to someone's death. It's your body so it's your choice, but I wouldn't do it that explicitly if I were you. As others have suggested, just the bomb would be less weird, or something in binary in the same location Ryan had his binary tattoo.

well thanks for all your input, I think if i get one it will be just the bomb from the logo. I know u guys are worried about if the site goes away or new people come but to me ryan will always be apart of giantbomb no matter what!

Before I even read your post my reaction was "RYANFACE DOLPHINBOD GO". Glad to see someone else had that idea.

I'd get Ryan's tattoo as a tribute. I don't know the full design though. :(

I'm not a tattoo person but if you want one go for it, i don't think its that creepy either i really dont. If your the kind of person who gets alot of tats or something getting one to remember Ryan aint weird.

Ryan's tattoo was binary for "mom." Getting that as a tribute to Ryan may be a little weird.

But yeah. Think long and hard about what you want to have permanently applied to your body. The bomb logo sounds good, because even if the site goes away or is re-branded, you'll always remember Ryan from Giant Bomb. I also like a binary message.

Any idea where you're thinking of putting it? If I ever got a tattoo I think I would put it somewhere I could cover w/ a short sleeved shirt.

I don't think you should. I'd go as far as saying it's a BADUMB (bad & dumb) idea. That would be taking it too far. I think you would regret it very quickly.

There's other ways to remember people and if you really want to, Giantbomb are probably currently preparing something to commemorate him. If they make T-Shirts you should buy some of them because the profits will either go to a charity or to his widow. I think that would be a much better idea. You'll have put the money to much better use and you won't have (what I think) something you could very easily regret very soon. My 2 cents.
