After having listened to the Bombcast for a while, I noticed that phrases like "Yo man," "word," and "I don't know if you know this, but [incredibly obvious statement]," have entered my regular vocabulary. Has anyone else had similar effects, or am I just crazy? Scratch that, I'm crazy regardless, but has anyone else had similar effects?
Has the Giant Bomb crew affected your manner of speech?
No, i am not American so if i adopted half of what they say i would sound like an idiot. (that was not a jab at America, but i would never adopt words like "dude" or "awesome")
" No, i am not American so if i adopted half of what they say i would sound like an idiot. I was just thinking about the same thing earlier today. I've noticed myself saying "totally", "I don't know if you know this, but [incredibly obvious statement]," and a few other things. I also noticed when something weird or crazy happens, I'll just say, "WHAT!?", and when when someone does something stupid, I'll say "Whaaaat are you doooooing..." like Jeff always does on the Bombcast. I think I need to stop before it gets worse...
I don't think so. I listen to the Bombcast quite regularly. But so far everything I've said has never sounded out of place. At least, no one has ever pointed it out to me.
" @cap123 said:I think it sounds silly" i find myself saying awesome every now and then. I need to stop it since it sounds pretty silly in england. "I'm in England. And I always say Awesome. It doesn't sound silly. At least not silly like "wicked" and "bangin'" "
I started saying Ryan's "boom" a lot. I also use Brad's "hmmm" in the exact tone which either sounds like disappointment or contemplation.
" @cap123 said:AH thats like bangin bruv!" i find myself saying awesome every now and then. I need to stop it since it sounds pretty silly in england. "I'm in England. And I always say Awesome. It doesn't sound silly. At least not silly like "wicked" and "bangin'" "
But seriously if I ever use the word bangin, I will kill myself
" the only thing it's done is make me use Ryan's "whoa-oh!" whenever i'm about fall, or trip, etc. "Yeah I started doing that too. Also Vinny's 'what-ever'.
" the only thing it's done is make me use Ryan's "whoa-oh!" whenever i'm about fall, or trip, etc. "I will sometimes do that "ut-dut-dut!" thing in similar situations.
I've also picked up "janky" because it's a useful piece of vocabulary.
Of course I'm not trying to "be like them" or anything weird. Their way of speaking is just appealingly colorful and I envy that.
