Hello, finally decided to sign up after some lurking (probably should have done it before watching a bunch of Deadly Premonition endurance run videos and half of the quick looks but whatever). I've decided to catch up on all the kick ass games that I've missed out on and I could use some suggestions from the Giantbomb community.  I'm pretty set on my next two purchases but then my list gets a little crazy, so any pros or cons you guys have I would like to hear. Here is my list ranked in order of interest, it is of course subject to change based on what you guys bring to my attention.
Games I'm getting next:
Batman: Arkham Asylum, Alan Wake
 Future game purchases:
1) Dead Space Seems to be a lock for number 1. Really digging the atmosphere for this game and Dead Space 2 looks like it is going to be good and I kind of want to know the story before that comes out.
2) Borderlands GOTY edition Really liked the quicklooks for this one. Might be able to get a friend to pick it up. Would it be worth it without for the singleplayer?
3) Assassins Creed 2 Not so sure about this one because of the new one coming out. Should I just skip it and wait for the new one or is it worth checking out?
4) Forza 3 Not the biggest sim racing fan, but I do get the itch to play them from time to time and this game seems to have a lot of cool looking stuff. Good game to cure that racing game itch?
5-6) Prototype, Just Cause 2 Saw the prototype quicklook and it looked awesome, haven't checked out too much on just cause 2 besides the demo a while back. Didn't really like the demo too much but I don't know if I gave it enough time.
8) Darksiders Love Zelda games but I love them primarily for their dungeons. I hear a lot about how this game is Zelda like but does it have epic dungeons with aha moments?
7) Mirrors Edge
8) Alpha Protocol Quicklook didn't turn me off. Reminded me of the first Mass Effect with a spy overlay. BTW ME and ME 2 may be my favorite single player games this generation. Love that style of RPG. Worth Checking this game out?
9-10) Final Fantasy XIII, Lost Odyssey  My love of jrpgs has faded over the years which is why these are kind of low on my list. Anything in these games that might reignite my interest in the genre? I'm not a fan of repetitive random encounters, bad Japanese dubs with cheesy VO, or corny melodramatic stories so keep that in mind.

So those are my thoughts based on stuff I've seen about these games. Love to hear some thoughts from the community. Are my priorities straight or not?

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Yes because that story is crazy and you should play it out yourself.
4) I'm not a racing fan so my opinion on this game is bias.
5) Just Cause 2 over prototype IMO
6) Darksiders Yes
7) Mirrors Edge is pretty fun but I wouldn't play it more than once and it was a pretty short game.  A couple of my friends are big in to the speed runs but thats not my thing.
8) Worth checking out if you're in to that style game yes, personally not for me.
9) Lost Odyssey is a great game, I skipped FFXIII just from what I've heard about it.

@Jack268:  Played POP a while back. Liked it while I played it but didn't really feel like finishing it.

1) Dead Space is awesome, go for it.
2) Borderlands is made for co-op, seriously in singleplayer you will get kinda bored. It's a great game and I've played it for hours, but 90% of my playtime was with a friend because in sp you just kinda end up feeling pretty lonely, which might sound weird but anyone who's played the game singleplayer will probably know what I mean by that.
3) AC2 is definitely worth it if you're into the series. I don't think the sp stuff in Brotherhood is going to be up to the same standard as AC2 simply because Brotherhood is being designed primarily as an mp game.
4) Forza 3 is the best racing sim ever made, if you have even the slightest interest in it, then you'll enjoy it.
5) Just Cause 2 is fun as hell, so is Prototype, can't go wrong with either and they're both probably pretty cheap now.
6) Darksiders is another brilliant game, if you like Zelda then you'll more than likely love it. Has quite a few 'dungeons' but not really in the traditional LoZ sense, but tons of great moments in that game and the combat is pretty decent too.
7)  Mirror's Edge is an absolutely amazing game, get it as soon as you can, it's so cheap these days and so much fun to play through.
8) Alpha Protocol is ok...don't go in expecting a spy version of ME though, it really can't live up to that sort of expectation, but it's an alright game nonetheless, nothing too special but the story is pretty interesting and if you enjoy the whole idea of playing the game how you like and customising your dude to play the way you want then you'll probably get some fun out of it.
9) Lost Odyssey is definitely miles better than FFXIII in my book, gave FF about 15 hours or so and then just had to give up on it, most repetitive and boring Final Fantasy game to date, and that's from someone who loves the series to death. Lost Odyssey, on the other hand, is a brilliant JRPG, nothing too special about it, but the story, characters, world, combat, dungeons, they all come together really well to make an excellent game that you probably won't want to put down. Another JRPG I'd recommend would be Resonance of Fate, but it can be damn difficult and takes a while to get used to.

Hope that helped a little. Enjoy playing all those awesome games. Oh and Arkham Asylum is brilliant too, you're in for an awesome experience with that game. Alan Wake has a great story as well, despite the poor combat I played through that whole game in a day simply because the story kept me so interested.

@Raymayne:  Thanks for that. Yeah I figure I'll get through Batman and Alan Wake in less then a week because I won't be able to put them down. Then I'll probably pick up Dead Space which will probably take me a bit longer to beat, since i can only play dark, atmospheric, intense games in short bursts. Between AC 2, Just Cause and Prototype which one would you recommend? I played a few hours of the first AC and found it a bit repetitive, but I liked the sword combat and running around. Is Just Cause 2 a lot of running around and mindlessly shooting things up or is there some variety in the game play (I'm kind of burnt out on using guns to mess things up)? For some reason I feel like prototype would be a nice middle ground between the three (a lot of acrobatics, and messing things up without having to use guns).

Skip AC2 unless you liked the first one.

Dead Space seems like a good choice.
