So I was able to procure a Kinect this past weekend without paying a dime for it. I was also able to get Dance Central at the same time. I now have no idea what I should do with this thing. My wife and I like Dance Central well enough (she loves it actually and is already 5-starring some songs on hard) and I went ahead and bought Fruit Ninja (which is very underwhelming and harder than I would have expected). I thought I might try and rent Child of Eden but other than that is there anything that's worth checking out? Perhaps easy achievement points that isn't frustrating? Thanks for any help bombers!
I Now Have a Kinect: Now What?
Nope. If you got it for free, selling it is the most value you're ever going to get out of the thing.
The Gunstringer demo was released today, that's meant to be a pretty good Kinect game. I'd give that a try.
dont listen to all these nay sayers! one day something awesome will come out for kinect... one day... right?
I know it seems like a cash-in and on paper it certainly is, but Kinect Sports is actually pretty dense with content and fun. The Achievements are not stupidly easy and require some skill, but they're fair and fun.
Your Shape is a surprisingly well-implemented fitness game.
I really like Child of Eden, but it depends on if you have an issue with how short it is. The quality is there but the length is not and it's a full-priced product.
Do you like games that control poorly? Do you like games with a gimmick that is fun for a few minutes? If you answered yes to either of those, then keep the Kinect and buy games for it.
If not then you can either sell it or keep it around to show off to any guests you have. They can be impressed for a few minutes, then you should quickly switch it off and play a real game with a controller before they discover how shallow all those games are.
You S-Rank Forza 4. Because you can't without a Kinect.
Yup. That's what I do and am going to be doing with it.Just keep playing Dance Central then play Dance Central 2 when that comes out.
Kinect Sports is decent too, and I play a little Kinect Adventures with my son from time to time.
Child of Eden was very cool but I would suggest just renting unless you're really into the idea of 100%ing it.
I could tell how legitimate it was as a workout program by how quickly I stopped doing it :PYour Shape is a visual trip and a really good workout if you use it regularly.

Sell it.
:(
but yeah that's what I did, if you are not into TV dancing there is no much use for it.
The main thing my Kinect does is sit there and switch to the Kinect menu every time I say "that sucks" (sounds like Xbox) while playing PC or PS3.
Child of Eden
Gunstringer - comes with free Fruit Ninja Kinect when it releases
get the Kinect SDK for PC and dick around making little kinect apps
Gunstringer - comes with free Fruit Ninja Kinect when it releasesI was super excited for The Gunstringer, but I'm still not convinced that it isn't a 15 dollar download in a 40 dollar box.
Put it in a drawer and hold on to it until next year when you can break it out to play Kinect Star Wars and be disappointed all over again.

Also, it's a Twisted Pixel game, I really want to support their first boxed release on principle alone. Throw in the Fruit Ninja Kinect, we're easily up to $25 in a $40 box, but stop to add in all the crazy crap TP likes to add to their games we're likely looking at: themes, avatar items, and maybe even additional levels for Ms. Splosion man (Comic Jumper came with an extra level or two for the original Splosion Man).

I find those guys really funny but they're not exactly a sure thing when it comes to my tastes. The Maw was okay, Splosion man was excellent, Comic Jumper was funny but not very good and I haven't played Ms. Splosionman because of the iffy things I've heard about it.
If these guys has a flawless track record I'd probably bite the bullet and go for it but as it stands I think I'll wait and see.
...but this isn't about my Kinect, it's about Sam's :P
