The Italian minister of the economy seems to think so.  In today's Repubblica (Jan 6, 2011), minister of the economy Giulio Tremonti is quoted as having compared Europe's economic situation to a video game at the "New World, New Capitalism" conference.   "It's like living in a videogame." he said, "A monster appears, you fight it, you beat it, you relax and all of the sudden another monster pops up, stronger than the first."  What do you think?  Could other life situations be compared to videogame concepts?  Do you think it's interesting that this middle-aged Italian cabinet-level minister thought videogame foes was a relevant analogy?

"E' come vivere in un videogame, compare un mostro, lo combatti, lo vinci, ti rilassi e subito spunta un altro mostro più forte del primo"

The analogy seems pretty left-field, but cool enough I guess.

If things were managed properly in these countries, there wouldn't be even a need to talk about the possibility of a double dip recession.  Why should there be a "stronger monster" in the first place?  I think the political leaders should have learned enough from their first encounter to avoid a second.  And if we're using video game analogies, is a stimulus package a phoenix down?

Nice to see that he felt he could refer to video games in a serious manner, although I don't think the analogy really works.
