Yesterday I bought the new Resident Evil 5 DLC "Lost in Nightmares" and my friend and I jumped into the Mercenaries Reunion mode. We played a few levels then decided to look up how to unlock the other characters. To our disappointment, we found out that to get any other characters, you would either need to buy the next DLC episode (unlocks two new characters), or buy one of two "character packs" for 180G. Is 180G a lot? No, of course not, but the fact that they want to charge you for characters to use in a DLC pack seems really ridiculous. What do you guys think? Is this just Capcom being greedy? Would you buy DLC for DLC? I'm not saying that character skins is something vital to the game which we shouldn't be charged for, but it seems unnecessary to charge for them.
Is Capcom Honestly This Greedy?
If people are willing to pay extra for costumes and characters, they are willing to sell them for extra. It's not exactly hurting them to have a few extras sitting on XBLA doing nothing, but if they realize there's no serious money in these things (aka people don't really buy them), then they will stop making them as additional pay for downloads, and possibly either minimize making such extras (charge or no charge), or just add them into the original game copy. I somehow doubt they'll be as eager to do the later.
" i think this is actually a mistake i think joystiq had a article on this. "No the price is not a mistake, they switched the Costume packs and accidentally posted the second costume pack as the first.
The prices on the new episode is very fair, for the other characters not fair. And yes all companies are greedy.... Even Nintendo
Oh, the DLC is out? Good to know. Also, I think it would be ridiculous for anyone to buy a character skin.
I've reached the point where all DLC can fuck off. Japanese companies are the worst when it comes to selling overpriced/worthless DLC by far. Not that the Western companies are doing much better. Can I just buy something that's complete and full-featured?
" Capcom is a Japanese company, and therefore might not 'get' DLC quite right at this point in time. "But Street Fighter is under America's jurisdiction.
...not helping their case, am I?
Besides, DLC totally brings out the worst in everyone, it seems. Microtransactions, brah. They're kinda deadly
I'm not sure if it's right to complain about this in particular, as I thought the DLC was really really good value for the price. It didn't have to contain those 2 new guys, I would have been happy without them. Just consider them a bonus.
