For those of you unaware Matt Kesler missed the Nintendo press conference because he slept in! He was supposed to be the person doing all the live blogging, last minute Alex had to step in.
Who wants to see a 1 hour live stream of Matt eating nothing but gone off fish in a yellow tin can non stop as punishment, with Ryan laughing in the backround on loop?
Matt Kessler needs an alarm clock.
Matt Kessler needs a pink slip. Any other internship where you "overslept" on one of the biggest days of the year, you'd be fired.
...He also sucks at live blogging.

I know right! How about force feeding him to drink 10 Red Bull cans each day to stop this happening again?

Exactly. I mean, he's on the job right now and he slept in, creating more work for everyone else. Isn't he passionate about videogames? How do you even sleep in at such huge time for gaming?
Wow, if I was working for Giant Bomb there is absolutely no way I would even accidentally sleep in.
Also, I enjoy reading Alex's stuff more anyway. He's got a lot of humor.
Sales reps usually get piss drunk during conventions. Journalists need to stay on top of their game. You gotta work hard if you want to play hard and not be a pussy.

I feel kind of sorry for him right now, he just gets back into the gig and majorly fucks up. He's gotta be in a perpetual hell.
It's not like anything will happen to him other than getting a lot of shit for it. I said he should be fired. I don't think for a second he actually will be.

THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. I watched the Sony press conference from 2 to 4 last night and still managed to get up at 7. He must be punished and this man has the answer

I'm pretty sure Matt Kessler didn't oversleep, it's all a joke. I thoroughly enjoyed (whatever I could catch of) Alex's live blog, though. OK, I'll play along...
SKIN HIM ALIVE! THE FORUMS DEMAND BLOOD!
Oh so its possible that "slept in" actually means "go do something else, let somebody who knows how to liveblog show you how it's done"?

I hope so. I mean... could he really be that sloppy? :O

I would never let this happen if I was an intern... well maybe the sucking at live blogging part.

OMG DURHUR I WOULD NEVER SLEEP IN SO I SHOULD BE TEH INTRUN!
You are clearly intelligent. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
The fact of the matter is if he slept in, on E3, through a major console announcement/one of the big 3's press conference, that's about as big a fuck up as an intern can have. In most fields, if an intern fucked up that big and an employee had to cover for them, they'd be fired. If I was working as an intern for the political press, and I slept in through a speech the President was giving, and an employee had to go in my place, I'd be fired. If I was an intern that was supposed to show up to demo a product at a convention for my company, and I slept in, I would be fired. So on and so forth. But yeah, it's just jealousy of Kessler on our parts for pointing that out.
He's not going to be fired, obviously, because of the way GB runs their shit, but he's lucky. I don't think expecting someone to take their job seriously and professionally is an outrageous notion.

I'm guessing he might have been ill or was asked to do something else and Alex just made a joke about him sleeping in?
If he actually did, then yeah, that's really bad. Pretty much unforgivable, really.

I don't know WHERE this rumor came from. Kessler was running late so Alex started the liveblog, but he got in right at 9:00, just in time for the press conference.
Thanks for the clarification.

One Alexis Navarro is to blame for the rumour. The first part of his live blog said "08:58: Kessler just reported in as having overslept. I have banished him to the news regurgitating realm. I AM IN CONTROL."
Either way, I stand by my statement that Kessler needs a kick up the ass.
Wow, there are a lot of assholes on this forum. It is sad to see such a disgusting reaction from the Giant Bomb community. It is a little pathetic how someone could be so outraged by such an oversight. Grow up. Here is a link to the definition of empathy. Try to incorporate this into your life.
